Legislators have taken aim at specific breeds, saying they're not pets, but "loaded weapons," and "ticking time bombs." During the San Francisco trial, the presa Canario breed was called "a pit bull on steroids."

The AVMA study concluded that "pit-bull type dogs" were involved in approximately a third of the fatal encounters. Rottweilers were responsible for half. Breeds on the "aggressive" list included pit bulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, Malamutes, Bull Terriers, Bulldogs, wolf-dog hybrids, Chow-Chows and Great Danes.

After reading these statements i become furious each and every single time. I would just like some feedback on these statements to see where i stand in comparison to other pit bull owners!

 

its just ingnorant those damn chiuahahahas are agressive to and so are datsuns and all dogs they all come from a wild animal. they all pose a threat. just bigger ones can do more damage. datsun bites you your all oooooh little rat you might even tease one of those micky mousey chiouauahahas but a big dog does it and its a threat to man kind. ppl are clowns and they are just looking for a circus to perform in. many of those dogs listed are the same ones we have used for centuries to defend our homes and livestock. now bcs some pansy is scared they are getting black balled.

 

People are just ignorant... Anyone who has ever been charmed by these beautiful creatures now that it is NURTURE not NATURE that causes bad behavior. Pit Bull FIGHTING should be banned not the breed.. The problem is NOT with pets its with dogs that are mistreated day after day that live in inhumane conditions. If we want to get down to it I was told by a local veteranarian that Cocker Spaniels accounted for the most bites to humans. It just makes national news when a Pit Bull does it because of their size and strong jaw.

 

Irresponsible pet ownership is the problem here. Every one of those breeds used to be working but now they are trying to be turned into "show" and "pets". While they remained working dogs they were contained and treated properly but average joe city dweller has no clue about the history of the animals he buys as "pets". To deny the history of the breed is to show total ignorance because those old time doggers made this breed what it is today. The current "pet" owners are the ones that are gradually ruining it for everyone. Breeding for color, size, and crossing whatever other bulldog breed they want to accomplish it has introduced poor temperments and guarding tendancies from the mastiff breeds they are crossed with. These human aggressive tendancies were typically not tolerated by the old timers. Many people nowadays don't even leash their animals or fence their yard. Most of those dogs are too much for the average pet owner to handle.
