i came across a man claims to be breeding 100% Colby for over 20 years. started with dogs from the northeast. does it as a hobby and asks for a third what Colby would charge for his dogs. won't show ped without cash in hand due to "paper hangers".

    if i only lived closer....

Every dog can be improved upon ..just by being honest with what you have ,what are the strong points what are the weaknesses ..Can you breed to get a dog alittle faster ,can you breed to get it to go longer ..If it's long can you get it to bite harder by breeding to what your dog is lacking..I think this is the point ..Colby are great dogs alot of dogs are great dogs no matter what the name says I hate when people breed one way to just beat down other breedings I can remember when razors edge had a good dog in the early 80s so it can be bred the other way as well ...

I've owned first round of Tant dogs and I've had boudreaux, and them old Eddington dogs heavy on the Whitherspoon bozo with a whopper out that were actually smaller than the JRB dogs but had thick bones. I've got Mtnman/hargrove dog a Halls/Snooty/lonzo dog a hammonds/heinzl dog.. My first love was JRB.. but it aint what it was and I've moved on I guess.. I do love the Colby dogs .. no more dogs with genes more old and more pure in the American registries..

the colby line my brothers is what started it all and from i belive would be colbys gass house bloodlines or something like that im not a big colby fan !!! just a fan of the breed. ??? AkC LINE ) When american pitbull came to america it came from COLBY FAMILY and recognized by the AKC as american staff. The american pitbull is what the ADBA named it because a great dogman was running the show . Just let me add this if your breeding fat blue things and prety papperd things and bloodlines and looks then your not breeding the american pitbull terrier because its none of those things that makes the dog what it is and what it was .

Who are you talking to? you teaching yourself? or spittin' something you assume we don't know? ... Your entry sentence was your exit sentence as well the rest of your post has no merit to this conversation as all these are working bulldogs in adba.

Opinions vary~ I've had some of the best stuff in the world early Tant stuff right off the first batch, halls bred dog, had some cowboy, and well the tant JRB dogs were the sht.. 17yrs later I find myself honoring purity of strain as much as quality and I really like working colby dogs. I work with other stuff bred down from the legends and I can't help but love the colby dog for what it is... Foundation... Look at any quality bulldog strain taken back to colby you get a ch or gr ch almost every time. Redboy genetics are colby top to bottom 3/4 so technically its a colby strain. Jeep half colby half boudreaux. The foundation is there in all the greats and all the dogmen who have bred themselves in a corner can always refresh their genetics with a colby and do nothing but give grace to their strain because they'r adding REAL STRAIN.

"Redboy genetics are colby top to bottom 3/4 so technically its a colby strain."
I don't believe Redboy is that much Colby, if any. I talked to Lou in the late 90s he said there hasn't beent a rednose Colby dog since the 60s or 70s. For the Redboy line to throw mostly red/red marking/rednose, makes me doubt his ped. If Colby genes are that strong I don't think the "redness" would be so pronounced. Just my thoughts. Wouldn't mind having a working Colby stud or gyp with that said

everyone who knows anything about redboy know he was 3/4 colby to 1/4 OF/OFRN .. and if you had the late Lous' book you'd see he happily puts redboys ped in there for us to see.. The loposay was [] bred colby dogs of another mans taste the kind of people Colby used as outs so that he had diversity without losing purity and staying pure colby ..

So you mean to say that 1/4 OFRN blood is more powerful than the Colby. I have that book by the way, still find a hard time believing it. How would all those black nose dogs in the background stay there when inbred? If Redboy was that much Colby, why so many Old Family/Red Devil type dogs showed up? 75+-% of Redboy's offspring looked to have a rednose. The Redboy/Red Devil mix produced Ch as recently as the 90s. Only makes more sense to me, it's like linebreeding. I don't have peds online. Any examples of a Redboy/Colby dog of today? I don't have any of these lines, just makin convo
