Great pups no matter what the colour. I was led to believe the beauty of the APBT was that colour doesn't matter even merle, just like people it doesn't matter what colour they are it's what they become that counts. Blues have been given a bad rap because of the badly bred hippos and cross breeds of late. They'res nothing to say you can't have a quality blue APBT.

come on now even merle ??? we all know merle is not a color that the apbt carries if you have a merle apbt then you don't have an apbt lol

More than likely what you are seeing is heavy black ticking and if so it will fall out as they age. Dirty red or dirty buckskin would be my guess for final color.

Saw pups that were that colour when they were small but ended up being the 'seal' color

Thats what im hoping for Irish. Ive had seals for along time out of the Hall blood but never from these.

I have heard people refer to seals as blue but they are really black with red/brown undertones. I don't think they will stay that color though I think they will change but Top Box if you don't mind posting more pics of them in a few months I want to see what color they end up turning out.

I'm confused why you would care if the pup was blue if you know the lineage of the sire and dam. That makes as much sense as wanting and breeding for specific color. The last thing that should ever enter your mind is color, especially if you know your dogs hunt. Hell, if my dogs were pink and they were competent in their hunts then that's all I would care about. Unless of course you are not sure about the parents ability and you're just breeding based on a scroll of paper.

I'm not positive, but wasn't it Kirshner or Mayfield that culled because of color? Did either one improve his line due to color culling? Best piece of advice is be color blind and give the hounds all an equal chance to prove they are bulldogs.

Hollingsworth culled all other colours than red I think, and he believed black dogs were curs if I remember right

I think he was just surprised to see anything that looked blue come out of red and black parents he said he has not one blue dog on the yard and no blue dogs in the pedigree. I guess because blue is not something you see very commonly in game bred dogs maybe he was just shocked to see what appears to be grey pups. But if you don't know genetics or at least understand it to a certain degree it's easy to be confused as to why some colors show up now if the dogs were throwing merles there would be a problem lol where I would be questioning the pedigree's on said dogs. Those old superstitions about blue dogs freak people out. I still say fuck it let them prove themselves give them a chance to show you what they are all about color is just a color and should never hinder a dogs performance if they got it they got it.

That was the only reason i posted them... Ive also had a bird dog looking pup from a well known breeder that ended up being half bird dog when he swore up and done there was no chance....so whats the ole saying... "if it looks and smells like shit then its probably shit" Just didnt think ide see some blue looking pups is all. Hell they already look alittle different this morning. 2 days old.

No, he was just plain stupid. Especially because all you have to do is a little research and see that good dogs come in all colors and weights.

Yeah but a lot of them had quirky beliefs about stupid shit I have read all kinds of crazy stories and was like WTF!

  19. Two schools of thought on his actions. You cannot argue with some of the dogs he produced (Bull). But, there is also the idea of what might have been.

You're right, but that school of thought to cull based on color is STUPID. Too many proven dogs before his time of assorted colors should have quashed his theory.
