My favorite body type is on the dog that uses it's body type better than the other dog uses it's body type. The end.

Lmao...hey Limey I didn't realize this thread was to judge conformation (the right body set up???) and/or conditioning (shape???) on someone else's selection...apart from some Joker posting #10, I don't see any dogs thus far which suggests that they're faulty lol....I myself am easily pleased, so anywhere from Strider to Tombstone to Zebo suits me just fine.

  6. I like my hounds to be around 40-43lbs nice and lean not to bulky, the dogs seen more cat like and athletic, the big ones get the job done but give up wind etc

That's a broad blanket statement to make, Josh. One that I have found to be inaccurate.

Ok killadev300 thats a long one!!!. If we look at the ADBA confermation and animals in nature ore other breeds. then there are facts of nature ore laws of ficiks that wil detirmin a best way for a body to do its work ore perform if you like. te best confermation in teory wil give a animal the most amound of strenght speed and stamina.

Lets start with the box frame . a (perfect confermation) pitbull terrier like a greyhound ore Cheetah should have the longest body and higest legs posible for its weight to be able to save energy and at the same time perform to the max. At the same time his chest with should NOT be wider then the schoulders are hight. this because a dog would loos agilety. a to narrow chest would make a dog flip over of off his feet and would have trouble performing. His chest should be as deep as posible and V shaped. as a barrel chest (just like a rouchet back) is not able to fully ecspend/strech the chest cavety to suck in air. Hens SBT wakes up gasping for air in summer time and do the same when farting(joke)

His feet toes should be together like that of a CAT. The wrisks should be TRAIGHT and the feet and legs should be straight under the shoulders. This for the best poisble footwork and grip... and being able to CARY weight around
The body ore back should be long with a straight and long LOIN with a visible CROOP. rouched back dogs like the Red dog and the black dog. will NOT be able to strech there back and loin for maximal leverich when boring in!!. altho many a person is charmed with that look its a BIG CONFERMATION FAULT Chek you tube clip >The Cheetah can run with 75 mph (115km/h) < make sure you watch this video till the end

In that clip you will see a straight back, long loin a visible croop wich makes it posible for a Cheetah/greyhound to be able to gain max speed and strenght.
If we look at Hyena,s then we know and realize that there weakest point is there backend, LOTS of other preditors ore competitors know this . And go for that weak spot imidiatly...

Look at the german sheperd and his awfull weak backend where he has a back that gose over in a curved rouched weak back end not showing a loin ore croop (simulair as the dogs mention and no for those who wil start arguing i use the shepeard as a comperison)
. then Chek out the Belgium sheperd and he is in a league of its own.. a Rouched back pitbull terrier wil loos LOTS of performance and leverich when his lower ore uper stilels are heurt!. he simply can NOT lean on a long loin croop to give him enoughf forward motion to compeat. And lets not forget 75% of the driving force of a pitbull terrier is his backend .

Being tall and long makes a dog able to use less energy then a dog of simulair weight that is short low and wide cested. . This type of dog ""thuse"" has a leverich advantige at first , but tires out ""mutch faster"". and for every 2 steps he makes a longer taller dog would do 1.1/2 steps .
witch means that during a show that lasts, energy cunsumption is ALWAYS in fafour of a dog that has a taller higher>corect< frame.. when tings are equal in lenght and hight a rouchst back would have >way less strenght< as wel when facing a uponend that can strech out to the max..

Now i like the ADBA confermation its simply the best, BUT to me it is not 100%. Personaly i like to see a little more loin lenght in there.
One of the coments against that is that a longer loin would carry ecsessif weight with the dog.
To me the weight of a inch longer loin would be neglected considering the extra power and leverich a dog would be able to diliver from that long extra muscle fibre he can use while doing the ting he thuse.
I do posses a dog that with the ecseption of a couple minor confermation faults points has a perfect confermation. G Hammonds told me he was a 97/98 point dog and umongst the 10 best dogs he ever seen in his live and i agree iventho he is my own... anyway spred feet/ rouched back / curved frond leg puls wrisk / straight stifels/ barrel chested wide chest. are the most weak links to look for. Now having said that the laws of fisics /confermation have ofthen proved to be inferior when it comes to the APBT as hart and gameness are nr 1.. chek google out for www apbtconfermation .com for more info ..

Still the topic is conformation and some better than others but I do agree, confirmation is probably one of the least saught after trait considering all other aspect of hunting.

There is a book that was written many years ago.... I got my seat belt on....Yet im reading about things that any dummy should already no.....Im not knocking info on this thread, However, Lets Keep This worlds greatest breed the best it can be with 3 Main things...:sex017:...#1 gameness, #2 temperament, #3 conformation ! And let Mutual Omaha's Wild Kingdom teach us the about the Cheetah !!!

Fuck a Cheetah, the only thing they are good at is running away very fast.

The best body type is the one that gets the job done.
