Not sure what you mean by glitch. I got on the forums right before I posted that GDH was still up. I only looked at 1 thread though, that BS blue gamedog thread but it seemed to work fine for me. So did the history section. Only 2 places I looked at though.

All these sites are very slow the various sporting dog news and foreign sites are all pretty much abandoned. Too many sites not enough people I guess.

This site and pedsonline are the 2 most active sites I've seen in these dogs as far as amount of posts per day.

Just reading this, I remembered I had A fairly tight Blind Bill X A Blackwidow gip, I bred her to my Bullyson, Mendacino, Stu Fowler, male got seven pups. three had eye lashes that would turn in, I thought the dogs were go'n blind! Took one to the vet and he diagnosed it as maybe A genetic trait! Just thought I'd throw that in, never saw Blind Bill, but maybe!?

Good read. Never been on game dog history. I tried the other night but it would not let me register. Not sure.

Never read the Tina book or this one either. I will give it a read and see.

Everyone has a 'first time' or an 'introduction' to the dogs. I'll take a swing at it.

My best friends dad was in the dogs in the late 60's/70's/80's. When I rode my bike to his house it was always about the dogs before he could leave. Feed, water and rake. To speed things up I helped. Unheard of today but it was a yard full of match dogs, grown bulldogs, tended to by two ten year olds. But times were different back then.

There were two dogs that were my favorite. A sweet and kind older female named Lucy. Sweetest dog anyone would have ever met. Then across from her was Miss B. Miss B was out of a Snooty/Pool Hall Red to Bullyson breeding. She was just one long muscle. This dog was as hard as concrete from one end to the other, all the time.

The summer turned to fall and I got my first paying job at ten, maybe 11 years old. There was a huge field behind him that was marked off with grading sticks. I made two laps around the field one with a harness and chain and the other without. I walked one and ran the other. When I came back the dog was put on a slat mill and my best friend took the next dog. Pops sat on a bucket. Supervision at its best.

He worked two at a time. No real idea why. I just knew I would get three-four-five dollars for my favorites. If you ever lived in the country, in a small town and had five dollars as a 11 year old you can understand. It was like being a Rockefeller. I was no different than any other millionaire of the time. LOL

Then it was show night. My buddy and I camped in the loft of an old horse barn about fifty yards away from the big barn. The cars and trucks showed up, they ate, drank and socialized and then off to the big barn. Once it started we snuck down from the hill and watched thru a crack in the wall.

I watched Lucy get shredded to pieces. If I had come into the dogs as a grown man I would have busted that thing up that night, kicked the shit out of anyone who opposed me saving my Lucy but not much an 11 year old could do at that point. Then after what seemed like forever, Lucy was called the winner but she did not look like she had won anything.

The next morning was all about aftercare for Lucy. I took it upon myself to make sure she was well taken care of til she was ready for the chain. She became mine. She was bred and when given a puppy off of her it was like being the luckiest kid in the world.

I'm not sure if that is how crack heads and heroin addicts get addicted or not, but since I was 10-11 I have been a junkie.

Not exactly book writing material but as close as I can muster. S

Now I write some far fetched shit,,, but this here...
Believe me when I tell you,,, you should write a book as I am yet to read anything you wrote that wasnt a good read,,, you have a type writing style thats very simple,,, gets a point across and offers alot,,,
your neutral stance on alot of situations is very persuasive and the gamedogs need more leaders like this...

YOUR STOREY SHOULD BE SOLD AND NOT TOLD,,, great read and I would have no problem coughing up fifty bucks to reread it as the first page of what could be one of the best books on bulldogs of all times,,,
you have shared enough on this site to pocket a third of the book and for that I would like to thank you...

As you said about me,,, this explains alot about you as you must have forty years of clear understang and examination,,, and have that rare gift to relay it well...

As far as my storey,,, it might read similar to mr maffies if the times were differnt...

ps,,, ten years ago you could get a small bag full of penny candy for the kids and a fifty pound bag of dog food,,,
plus permit to light a fire at the country store for under twenty five bucks,,, eastern carolina reminded me of a simpler slower time when I was a kid and could get a handful of candy for a quarter,,, good times and five bucks must have felt like a nice down payment on a house back in the day...

I agree Elias great read by Slim. can always be wrote from a 3rd person perspective with name changes like Maffei's Red Tina.

A kickstarter funding with everyone who pays in a certain amount can get a free copy of the ebook. You can self publish, hell a guy has an 8 page "book" called "12 weeks til showtime" on amazon kindle.

My dad self published a book including an ebook and my sister used a kickstarter to fund an exhibit she put on. It is do-able if if interest you. Nice to look back at memories and relive the old days.

And Elias you can always change details if you were planning on a short story or book yourself or use another handle.

I agree about the neutral stance being a positive, hell that's the reason Strattons books sold so well and reached a more mainstream audience. Same with Frederic Maffei the compassion and love for the dogs shine through in every page.

Other authors like Carl Semenic and Douglas G Link have had success maintaining such a position.

For someone like myself who doesn't like the match reports or hearing some of the cruelty it would make a good read.

We're all here to read about the dogs on some level, whether it's stories about the working dog aspect, history f the breeds origins and famous breeders, or just admiring the spirit and courage of bulldogs.
