  1. Since I joined this forum, I got a lot of useful informations. The most useful was: get out, visit some events (like the one in the Netherlands) and talk to people. But now I have some new questions. First of all: Is there a good place to get the announcements of further events?

If I am on another event, which questions I should ask? What is important to know? How long he/she breeds? Which bloodline? Pedigree? Nature? How many litters per year? Anything else? Which informations I need to know to sort out the akward breeders and the skillful breeders?

My best advice is slow down and take your time.keep visiting here and read, read and read some more....the more you know about the breed the better prepared you will be when you get one, these dogs are a pain in the ass lol...I haven't gone on vacation for almost a decade lol

  3. There is no hurry to get a new dog (I have 2 already). But I did some mistakes in the past. One of my dog has problems with his spine. The other is a "Pit" (probably a Pit Bull-Patterdale Mix) with awful character traits. He is timid and often gets into fights. But he doesant attack strong dogs. Only the dogs which be intimitdated by the growling and barking and then try to escape get attacked by my dog. It sucks man... it really sucks. My next dog should be a real Pit, with a strong "state of mind".

There is a man on Bulldog Hill that ships world wide and your odds of getting a good one are pretty good......

I'll give you a hint, he was one of the judges at the event you were talking about. Lol

Your best bet is to have the ADBA email you updates. If it's an ADBA sanctioned even, it will be on their website.

As far as your other questions, Niko already gave you the best advise. Read, read, read. Also keep getting out and meeting folks with the breed. In time, you'll find what your looking for if you seriously wish to find it. Good luck!

I haven't got anything to add that can help you in your search only to point out that it's probably best not to put your current dog in situations where it attacks other dogs as when you get the "real Pit, with a strong state of mind" you are after, the result will be potentially more serious for all concerned. I don't know what dog laws are like in Austria but I imagine you won't get too many chances to mess up before someone takes offense to your dog attacking other dogs, whether it's the other dog owner or the law. It would be a shame to spend all that time and money only to let the dog down. Just be aware it may not be good with other dogs including your own.

  8. Mr. Tom Garner? Never read "Bulldog Hill" referring to him. Learned something new... lol. I´ll check the ADBA regulary. What about the UKC or AKC? When I go to an event next time, I would not act like an idiot. I really have no idea which questions are meaningful and which are not. Please believe me, I read a lot. I read the book "American Pit Bull Terrier" written by Joseph L. Colby. Read some books in German. I have informed me a lot of Bloodlines. About the old dogmen. Some stuff on gamedoghistory.com. Probably everything of the Pit Bull History in general. Certainly, there are much more detailed informations out there. I´ll keep on reading. That is for sure. What questions did you ask? What questions should be avoided?

I am working a lot with my timid dog. And there are some results already. He is less nervous and timid than he was 2 months ago. Every dog in Austria would get a second chance, except he kills another dog or kills/hurt a human. If your dog is noticed negativ, you have to take an exam with your dog. This examination is to check your knowledge as a dog owner and to check the charakter traits/state of mind of your dog.
