I will say this, if you want to sell high price pups and make profit from doing so, find another breed. Not many people are going to pay high prices for these pups. They may be worth it, they might not be. But most are not going to pay it.

Something was said about keeping the dog 10 years and that being $200/year. Well, what if said dog does not make it past 2 yrs old? Then that figure turns into $1000/year. Big difference.

I just spoke with a guy selling Mayday pups 8 weeks asking 1500 a pup. You know the story parents winners and producing. $1500 to get in. Probly willing to sell them to anyone with cash. Lol. Just another example.

Didn't even factor in housing, meds, vet if you go, city registration, and feed. Then there's the extra stuff. I can see 800-1k on the very high end, but I can't pay that. Maybe if that's the bottom line after shipping or travel to pick something up, then yes. 2k is adult and bundle prices

C don't get me wrong I understand exactly what your saying and why. What I am getting at that if your not born in a circle you have no resource so your forced to spend. Like you said, most people are buying pets and most pets cost and they should.
For someone who works their stock why would they pay 2000 for a dog then 100 for a chain spot and 350 for shipping? Nah 2500 for a empty chainspot ain't worth that, but I can still see both sides.
The most I spent was 1500 but that was a grown one that was ready for what ever I wanted to do with him. And that same dog has grown dogs on the ground now so it was worth it.

You done bumped your head if you don't think people will and do pay big bucks for pups. Did you read the topic????? Tom sells pups for 2000 a pop and makes 10,000 off a litter lololol why wouldn't he do a repeat? Off of 4 litters a year he is making a WORKING MANS SALARY selling mostly solid PETS. Your trying to compare two different objectives. You got the man on the thread that says he is buying history so that PUP already made his cut . He will be bred and his pups will be sold, so to him its worth it. I might not like how the pup drinks water at 2 years old and get rid of it so its not worth it to me. Apples and oranges. Pets vs working. Working= working mans price. Pets= pet price.

LOL , YOU done BUMPED YOUR HEAD if you think MOST people are going to pay that. Everybody isn't Tom and they are not getting those high prices they're HOPING to get. Bet that.

The reason for a working mans price is usually for those that are going to work there dogs for a specific event because NOT all of them are going to work out. This usually pertains more towards puppies as PROVEN ADULT DOGS are a different story.

And 'working mans price' is all subjective. For a poor country boy like myself 'working mans price' is somewhere around $600. And for somebody like officer Stevens 'working mans price' is $2K. It's all subjective.

Buying a puppy of any working dog is a lottery, how many greyhounds make the cut, how many patterdales make good hunters, how many protection dogs actually pass their training etc. If you want a well bred dog as a pet then any working drive is a bonus and you don't have contacts I suppose it's not that bad to pay that much for a hobby. The statistics are stacked against you buying one dog and expecting it to be something special regardless of breed. If you just want a pet then the pound is as good a place as any. If you want to establish a yard of dogs it's gonna be expensive unless you share the costs between a friend and line breed regardless of whether the dogs are worth breeding. Pretty much what is happening with the bully scene, buy an expensive dog stud it out and breed it to anything to get the money back and treat it as an investment and establish a line from there if you want to make money and don't care about the rest.

With any working dog it's best to get a dog from someone who works them and has proven stock, even so there is no guarantee. When a person is breeding for profit and selling everything the dogs produce then your chances are slimmer imho. If someone buys an expensive well bred dog they are more likely to breed them regardless of quality just to make the money back.

800 tops, 1k if I can get the rest from a partner on a pup or stud deal

So what if it stays cold AND doesn't produce? How many wasted years is acceptable for "breeding for the blood" instead of "using and breeding good dogs"? Foundations start with a stone or 2, like most bloodlines start with a dog or 2. Find good dogs breed em and try em. Don't spend big cuz you can, spend big cuz it will pay. You might be able to buy half or a whole litter with 2k, depending on who you know and how hard you look

So by this do you breed any 2 dogs together that shares his name in the pedigree...

Say for instance you went ahead and got the one pup you always wanted from Tom, a female..
This female is bred out the ass but unfortunately was cold....do you start over from here or do you find a good producing male that would complement her and put your belief in the breeding? This is starting out ofcourse.

Lol. I wouldn't ever pay 2 stacks for no pup. I wouldn't breed a cold bitch either. Many feel differently. To each their own. Working man's price to me is 500-1000. For 2 grand I'm going and buying an already accomplished adult dog.

Ever. 2k for as many pups as I can, grown dog like you said is preferable. Keep savin and a better deal might come along.
