I bred my bitch 4 weeks ago. Is there a way to tell if she took or not? I have been feeding her some extra food, but so much as to over feed. She seems to have put on some extra weight, her nipples are larger than normal, and appear to be a dark pink in color. They are sagging towards the back, and look like milk is stored in them(if you know what I mean) but no milk is there. I know it's still early in the pregnancy (if she took). Can she possibly be pregnant, or could it be a false pregnancy? Any and all advice is much appreciated.

Only time will tell. I had a bitch show all of the signs of being pregnant. I fed her more than normal and thought she was getting bigger from being pregnant. She was nice and fat but sure fooled me...haha.

The way I can tell is by feeling their tits. If you can feel her milk glands swelling, its a good indicator she took.

There is probably a more scientific way of confirming this like pregnancy testing or taking her to a vet, but I'm still old school i guess.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I know it's still some time yet. Her teats are swollen. Going to a vet is not an option for obvious reasons. I guess I just have to sit and wait. Maybe I'll look into the pregnancy test kit.

you can do a sonograph to look inside, costs money though. Carefull with giving too much food while shes carrying, you need to have space for the young uns to grow. increase food after delivery.

You can call your vet and ask him how much a pregnancy sonograph cost.
Some brands of dryfood recommend 25% to 50% while carrying, and more during lactating.

    Success and luck

No offense but there's really no good reason not to take a dog to the vet. A lot of these dogs have scars, whether they're from hunting or chewing up a kennel and getting marked up or any other scenario that happens often. They don't do background checks at the vet so if you're nervous just use an alias and fake address. Pretty simple really.

Yeah that's true treez. I just don't want "the man" at my door, but I agree bruh. I'm gonna take her in for an ultra sound. She's 35 days in
