What a weekend so for. First, I go to my ladies work Christmas party on Friday. Hilarious people and for dinner, prime rib and lobster tails, shrimp scampi, sides, good wine, some vodka concoction that I got pretty tanked on.

Saturday morning I wake my daughter up at 6am. It's the last day of the rifle season for Whitetail Deer here in Pa. My daughter and I jump into the woods by 7am, at our spot by 7:15 am

8 am, Buck down! Walked right up to us. My daughter, for the second time this year froze up with buck fever so I unleashed hell. I only brought one 30.06 round since the other 4 fell out a hole in my pocket last Saturday in the woods. Lol I wasn't really expecting to shoot anything. Anyway, a 7 point and 3 does run right up on us. Walk steadily to us until abut 22 yards. I hit him with a 155 gr 30.06 hollow point. Fell like a sack of taters. Spent the next 5 hours processing the deer. All in the freezer now. Nothing goes to waste except entrails.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season....

Big props to you and yours.

Mine started at the end of 48 hours of night shift this week. On Friday night I ate a local convenience store grill and topped it off with another 12 hours shift. On Saturday night I had a pork loin sandwich and for dessert I had another 12 hour shift. Knocked down 72 hour this week.

Just got home to play catch up with the dogs and start tomorrow morning for another 72 hour stretch next week.

Now that I have vented.....LOL....it is great to see those pictures. Those are blessings my friend.

Blessings indeed. I’m fortunate to have the resources to get a variety of raw cuts from the international market. The dogs had meaty beef neck bones for dinner last night. My little red nose cracking the bones in the back of her mouth was music. She would love that spine!

I leave the spine and complete head outside in the back yard. Since it stays around 24 degrees at night and up to about 34 during the day, it keeps pretty well. The dogs pick at it when they are out of their pens running free or when I let my 2 insiders out. Both will be picked clean of the meat in a few days. Last thing I do when the meats gone is to cut off the antlers. Dogs will get them too. They also get the shoulder bones and the legs above the deers first joint. On top of that, they have 8 - one gallon freezer bags full of meat that they'll get added to their regular feed. They make out pretty good when we harvest a deer. I only use the back straps, steak meat and 4 one gallon bags of meat for jerky for myself and daughter ( no one else here will eat it)

Dogs pretty much get the rest of the deer.

Damn slim, you work a lot. I wish I liked my job enough to put in more than a standard 40 hour week but I hate my job and would just rather go without some things than to spend any more time being someone else's slave. My hats off to you sir, I couldn't do it. Lol.

A few I took this morning as I was breaking ice of the water buckets..

They were all waiting at their kennel doors anxiously when I went out.

    Manufacture of bulk pharmaceuticals.

I don't hunt anymore. The other two supervisors hunt religiously. They use all their vacation from mid October (gun/dog season) all the way til the 1st of the year. I average about 60 a week during these months.

Unfortunately the time is straight time, no time and a half.

The turn is that from Jan 1st til mid October I work 14 days a month and have an entire week off every month. During that time I can just about come and go as I please.

Not perfect by any means, but it keeps the lights on. LOL

Just like always your pictures make me think. A brindle dog. I can remember a time when I thought they were the most hideous colored dogs on the planet. Just thought a dog looked horrible in a brindle coat.

Then a few brindles made me think twice. And now they are my favorite. Love the brown and black brindles.

    Funny,.

His color has grown on me over the years. I still dislike the color brindle but he's such a good dog that I look beyond it now. I think it's my OCD or something, there's just too much going on in that color pattern. Very good color for hiding any marks though.

    True,

The first one that caught my eye was one that was really light on the base coat and then had distinctive dark lines. Tiger striped almost.

    Funny how things work.

AGK, not to hijack your thread, but I got in my first argument with a ref this weekend, while coaching basketball. Other team was fouling the shit out of our girls so badly, I got so pissed, I just went off. I kinda feel bad about it now...not too bad though, we had 3 girls all with ice packs on various parts of their body by the end of the game.
