Easy enough mate hands roughly shoulders apart stick them under logs/river banks slowly and try and hook the gills aswell as great the tail end. And Pull straight up and out. Oh and be careful it’s not a river rat lmao.

Every stream/river is a little different mate but I like the hottest part of the day as that’s when a lot of fish are sunning them self or resting up.

I'd keep a APBT just like I always have. Don't really need a dog to help with food as I've hunted, fished and trapped my whole life and never have I had the opportunity to use a dog to harvest game so it really wouldn't be any different for me. Sure, it would be beneficial but I don't believe it to be a necessity. I would just want a good gamedog by my side and we'd figure it out. Would be a fine protector, companion, hunter etc. without having to have several breeds around for several different purposes. They can usually excell at basically anything you teach them.

Yes, LRS what you explained sounds similar to noodling. Bigger sport down south than it is up north but they even got tv shows about it these days.

  10. ive always said it...
they can do it in any age or time!

Gotta have a few round if the worlds gonna end.
im a firm beliver a man can use his head to catch small game, but needs his dogs to help him sucure bigger game.

Ive always liked the idea of teaming a Greyhound and Bulldog up for big game.(not cross the two..just team them up)
it would be a hard task..but both dogs have got a lot to offer.

I suppose it depends on what happens to you and were about in the world you are.

And Noodleing is the other word for tickleing then..you learn something new everyday .even if the worlds coming to a end.lol.
primative skill what ever you want to call it..man has been doing that since the year dot..
and bow fishing is another old primative skill.
its a simple device..ide like to try it out.
you tie the bow to a string and tie the string around your leg.
    pretty crafty really...

All these old skill may have to be re harnessd back into humans.
i sure wished i new more primitive stuff.

Catfish bite onto the hand mate when there stuck into a hole so slightly different. And yes where you live will have a lot to do with it.

Considering ‘counter-zombie tactics’; dog should have high natural suspicion of strangers. For me, medium sized German Shepherd, 65-75 lbs from old style service lines, built for field or urban terrain, all weather capable. Good nose, detection senses. Dark pigment all black even for max visual intimidation.

Good dog will reduce requirements for motion lights, cameras, electronic surveillance, night vision and even infrared equipment in austere environment. Through history, dogs worked effectively for primitive and violent cultures. Maybe a little harder to find such dogs nowadays after generations of soft breeding for looks, and sleeve happy sport dogs.

  14. Ide say the Mal has replaced the GSD in that respect @GK1.
but them old GSD service lines would have been speciel i think.hard to get now because of all the things you just said.but i suppose there may be good ones still around?not in numbers no doubt.
i seen a few years back that were real good.i aint ever seen many Mals to be honest.but they seem very similare in type and temperment to the old lines of GSD.
im not sure if they are lol?
they seem a touch smaller then a GSD to..are they?
GSDs were used through the wars to quite a degree.do you think the Mal is a of shoot of these GK and Lrs?
or do you think its just a similare type what was developed in a diffrent part of Europe?
    just thought ide ask.

Soze tk, yes and no. The GS is still used throughout the world for police and military service. My mentor has had contracts with le agencies and state prisons for decades to broker/import the GS from Europe.

The NYPD mainly uses the GS. Certain Malinois lines, like from Holland KNPV kennels, run as large in height/weight even larger than average GS, like 40kg+. Some kennels are breeding the GS to act more like the Mal… Other agencies purchase crosses between the two breeds. My understanding is kennels in Czech Republic, Holland, and Slovakia source the majority of reliable working shepherds.

Lol the waters are muddy and the debates are endless. In the end, the dog that works, right?

I own both breeds. All fine dogs, but my GS is my go-to dog.

  16. Thanks for your imput @GK1.
I no very little about the two breeds.
i just cant help but notice how tractable the both breeds are.they most defintly top the canine iq list..and the Collie two in that respect.
infact all sheep hearding breeds are super brainy.
even them big sheep protectors like the Kangals and Octos are a lot smarter then most people care to think.
but back to the smaller Sheep hearding breeds, and they are super smart.all of em man.from Gsds to collies to kelpies.super super smart.
i cant help but be a fan to be honest.

i no you said your GS is your go to dog @GK1.
but whitch out the two breeds would you continue or stick with?
would you cross the two breeds?

The knpv dogs are top of the line but there crossbred gsd mal and Dutch Shepard dogs aka best to best breeding most police forces this side of the pond are making the switch from gsd to mals as they weigh less and are the most hyper/driven dogs you’ll see.but that’s not always the dog you want living with you anyway. Plus they do tend to be all round healthy compared to the rest.

david63 and Soze the killer like this.
  18. Will not this mix be better health wise.comperd to a purbred GSD???

  19. Every part of Europe has these type of bigger sheepdog.all the types seem functonal...seems good idea to breed good worker to good worker.
would this even make em cross breeds coz one comes from Beligum, the other Holland and the other Germany???
lmao Lrs...dont use the STB and APBT here lol.i no them to aint been the same for over half of century.
but the sheapard breeds from Europe all seem to have been bred to some sort of working standards.
would it harm to cross em together???
are the three breeds so so diffrent from one another???
i only ask coz i aint got a clue..
    and i apreacate any imput.
