I'm getting one soon and doing research. Wondering if anyone has experience with them? Anyone know what's the best brand. Already looked at the ones at petsmart, petco. Want something better. Above ground to attach to fence. 18 guage wire.

General consensus is they are not an effective containment for most dogs, let alone a determined and powerful breed like the APBT. You are better off building a proper chain spot or a kennel.

Thanks for the info. Anti Tether law where I live. He's an indoor dog. When he's in the backyard I check on him every five to ten minutes. It's fenced 6 ft. He's not a fence hopper. Just want something one for insurance to prevent fence hopping just in case and throw him off if he ever trys. I know one guy with two boxers that were notorius fence hoppers. Worked for him. And another guy with a back yard bred pit that was a fence digger. Worked for him two. I wouldn't try it if there was no fence. I hear blow thru's a common. Will do more researching.

  5. With a real fence it may help detour them. Alone it's worthless

Yeah, I wouldn't use it alone. Just want it as an extra layer of security added to the fence so I could let my guard down somewhat without having to check so often. Would give him more playtime on his own at longer intervals.

Check your anti tetner laws, all those I've read say a cable run is legal. If so you could set one up for you dog.

  8. My husband was going to start our underground fencing back up, but I told him that it wouldn't work on Zeus. And after reading this I am right.
