Wow...wonder if that has anything to do with their glorious engine problems. I did a number of motors working for kia and you should have seen some of the nonsense that we had to deal with. I had a remanufactured gdi motor come in with the wrong camshafts installed. Found out after the motor was installed and there was no lobe to run the high pressure fuel pump smh. Part of the reason i had to get away from them. On another note what kinda work you do slim, I may be interested lol

I'd bet big that them kids were the best workers in the whole facility. Give them youngsters green cards and they will be running the place in a few years.

Oh..that may be a little beyond my sub-par high-school education slim lmao.
Ben you probably aren't wrong. I was more or less getting at the fact that they bust out all this work with inadequate teachings mixed with a not so great qc and they will stock the shelves full, with parts that may or may not work. Not blaming the youngins they just doing work and prolly don't know no better

Rod bearing wear on a car with barely 80k on it. 6 month wait list to get it replaced under warranty. Gal said "i get 50 of thses calls a month" God bless those gdi motors...

Sounds about right and I'd bet good money her claims are no exaggeration. Things seem to drop like flies and they came in waves. You couldn't get them boxed up and sent back before you had more coming in the door. That was a couple years ago. Talked to a couple guys n9t long ago that said it hasn't slowed down yet. Solid engine r&r's for at least 10 years now. But at least they stand by that 100k powertrain warranty.

This country is doomed . It's no answer that I can see . Good jobs available 30 plus a hour and no takers . I don't get it.

    I agree.

The company hired a guy last week. he did orientation on Monday, a 6 hour training class on Tuesday. He walked behind another employee for 12 hours on Wednesday. He had Thursday off. He came to my shift on Friday night for 12 hours and again on Saturday night for 12 hours.

He is in training so he can't do an awful lot and did not have to do an awful lot.

He ghosted me last night. No call. No nothing.

He was up tho because at 3:15AM his weekly stub popped up for my approval.

I guess there must be free money in piles on every corner because it does not seem like many people need to work.

And "these days" go the other way as well.

We hired one group around $20. When they go from a I to a II it is a $4 hour raise. It takes about 4-5 months if they drag their feet.

It is advertised a $4 hour raise. People were hired with that number as a part of the deal.

We had two come in a few months ago with a similar background/similar skillset. They were started at $22 and when they met their requirements, they were given a raise to $24 vs. a $4 raise. The shit hit the fan this morning.

I gave my spiel to HR on the way out. You hired these people away from another job with the $4 promise not the 'up to $24' route.

End of the day I will lose two spectacular, show up every day, do everything asked and even the things they see, employees over $2.

It is hard enough to get people to show up to work but it makes it doubly hard when you choose to not pay them after they get there. Even I can see the holes in that business model.

We have a similar system. Get hired at this price, do your indepth(company term) on your "skill" they'll give u $2(remember they're paying unskilled ppl the skilled price already and letting them earn it later) get your #2 it's close to $5 more so on and so forth up to level 5.

Our issue now is gate keepers. "Well I got hired at a zero you got hired as a level 1, fuck you" type attitudes. We had a HEATED conversation about a certain person requiring you to do a task 5 times before he'd sign off your skill. Only issue is I know who trained him and he hasn't done some things once let alone 5 times. He's upset he didn't get hired at a level 1 and had to earn it so he won't let anyone earn their #2 through him.

Same guy who when he gets a new hire bitches moans gripes and complains that he needs to hurry up and get them to where they can break him out for an hour at a time. Once u can he quits training you.

They gave dude a back up lead position and it's only gone down hill since. I got told calling someone "star fucker" and "lazy fuck bag piece of shit" was unacceptable when I jumped his ass about taking four 1 hour breaks and going to pre and post shift meetings(1st hour of shift and last hour of shift) while his new hire barely gets a 30 min lunch in a 8 hour day.

I can see why some of these folks don't want to work in that environment. It's hard to watch some attention seeking cunt of a man block you from moving up because they're mad a policy changed after they were hired.

Ssdd, I think we work at the same place. LOL

We were once a billion dollar company that was ran like a 'mom and pop store'. People were taken care of and for the most part were appreciative. It was aplace where you had to know someone to get in and hardly ever did anyone get out. When I went there I was 32 and the guy that walked me around that first day had his first day on the day I was born. He was not even in the Top 20 for seniority.

Then the market changed, and the times changed. We are no longer a 'mom and pop store'.

We have two different pay scales for the exact same job. I just lost a young woman who was on the lower scale who outclassed any and every one. She dominated in a male dominated environment but for $4+/per hour less. There was no way she could ever catch the ones in front of her.

The ones in front of her was on the old pay scale stay out front whether they shine or sit on a bucket.

The lesser pay has created an environment where we can only shop at the temporary store and we get the good ones here and there. We train those up for the next company.

It is a brutal cycle that continues to repeat itself.

Our was the same. Impossible to get hired on and when you do youre retiring from here. They had an SAT type test you had to take before they'd hire you also.

Then staffing quotas came. The test got dumbed down then so did requirements to get hired.

Covid changed everything. No test and if you pass the drug test and physical you have a job. A great job at that. I could go on and on about our benefits, pay scale, skills taught etc etc etc. But most folks don't want to work the taxing schedule.

We're hiring 60 year old men, 350lbs 5' women and kids straight out of high school who call in because "their stomach hurt". Our skill level has steadily plummeted to the point if you 2 ppl that have have 2 indepths(the bare minimum they require without moving up) each in one area you are the highest skilled team in the plant.

I don't see the company maintaining at this rate honestly.
