Two stories. One, I went to Richmond, Va to buy an American Bulldog. It was off a dog that had showed to be a real go-getter at Art's. I think someone else owned him and Jami bought him. When I got there, like I said before, I knew his but I could not place him. He gave me this killer deal on the AB puppy. I could pay $1000 for her and when she was ready to breed I would bring her back and he would whelp and keep the puppies. On the 2nd litter we would split the litter and then after that she would be my dog. I told him I could go to Carl Mim's and buy three game dogs and have a hundred left over. He then took me to the other side of the yard into a out building and Uno was in a crate and Big Momma had puppies. (the litter that ended up with Super Socks the 110lb APBT) Uno got away from him coming out of the crate and I caught him at the door. I sttod on top of Uno til he could get the crate straight.

A while later the guy that turned me onto the dogs had never seen the dogs on hogs before so went to Art's one weekend. It was one of the shows at the lumber yard. The next day there was a conformation show and a weight pull at some park. I do not remember the name. When we pulled up with the guy that turned me onto the dogs looked out the window and said., "That is Max Coates". Another buddy of mine said, "Nope his name is Jami Long". He then told us about Max/Jami and his dealing with Atlas Brewer and how he was ran out of the area and it was bad blood. When D walked up to him Max/Jami turned around, looked at D and you would have thought he had seen a ghost. Jami went from unloading dogs to loading dogs and he left the park.

The dude was a piece of work. He spent money and had really good dogs. He just lied and hyped them beyond belief.

Again, big dogs are not my cup of tea. But to each his own.

I think I got mine off Ebay or Amazon for next to nothing.

It must have like a bad ass engine built in because mine pretty much eats batteries. LOL

Mine does to. I use it once, then by the time I weigh them all again I need to put a new battery in it. It's alway pretty accurate though and I've it for a long time. Think I got mine from shane (stillwater).

The same. I have had mine forever. I have way more in replacement batteries than I paid for the scale.

For shits and giggles I carried it to work to check it to see how accurate it was with our test weights. It was spot on from 0-25, 0-50 and it got off by not quite an ounce at 0-100. That is pretty awesome as we are more lenient with scales weighing medicines. Go figure.

I hated this f**king monster I had. Great bred eli dog sire great dog. Unfortunately for me this nightmare was better. He went probably high 70’s or low 80’s otc. I might have gotten him to 71-72 lowest and probably to low hell 65 someone see him call the aspca they woulda shot him as they couldn’t took him unless I got him off chain. I tried everything on him that pos never gave me reason to cull his ass. Big black brindle mofo had biggest head on him I ever seen on dog. Cutters like 1 3/4 or 2 inches long and thick. Couldn’t measure as only let u look for second. Conformation wise he was perfect just huge. Athletic body not bulky muscle short long monsters like most are. This boy his sister too could bite like one would think from ped alone. Other 5 ave at best. Had kennel accident once thank god wasn’t him that got loose. This mnc male ribbon winning racer he was 54 otc and could eat too. His swivel broke I didn’t change it in time this mnc male was a chain jumper fuck up a set up if didn’t watch. Kept him with biggest swivel and 1/2 thick oring. Well I was inside and yard erupted we all know that sound. I was out and in yard less than 3 minutes. That mnc male shot right into this monster I hated ( of course he lazy as shit unless reason to not be) this monster was fast too got mnc male by throat ( he had the mnc male 3 in collar and 1/2 o actually and little skin of throat) then one of my other males has this mnc by his tail and trying to drag him in his chain spot too. I get the male off his tail then grip mnc between legs. This monster had his neck collar and ring so
Tight couldn’t get stick in. I cut the mnc collar snatch him up he gasping as throw in a empty kennel. Go over to monster hoping as mnc should been dead and finally reason to cull. Instead I pull 20% of mnc collar from his throat and a o ring that this monster crushed completely flat. Like u put in a vice and tighten til was completely flat. Few dog man seen him race and how he ate all scared of him as size and he had biter look and two tried too every time saw them. Saw that ring afterwards we never seen or heard anything like this before. In fact never talked bout it til now openly. I got some straws off him as most said too big afraid throw plus he was scary funny acting like bullyson was. I used couple straws in past decade plus got a 52 biggest out of two breedings. No man biters. That monster just like his dams sire bit some kids face off yr half after have his old 12 yr ass away. Lesson I learned and never made excuse any dog 60 plus one lil hint i cull that ass.

Sorry for long ass post. I wanted to put him down when he was 6 he was being stupid and I popped shut out of his side and the look he gave me ex and her son and ex friend said that look he gave me how I didn’t get bit. I told ex then cause he knew would been his last breath if he did told her I know he would have done some damage to what if he did bite be his last. Me and few dogmen told her he was if allowed going to hurt someone

  12. I got some dogs out of there way back in the 2000s. I got to pet uno (Virgil dog). He seemed to advertise uno as 75lbs, 85lbs etc. He looked bigger in person than a lot of dogs but to me he looked in the 60s maybe 70 max, so not sure what the true weight was. Uno was a good dog though.

I got to see mugger/thug and a son named ghost. along with Drac (another Virgil dog). Mugger seemed intense and a good vj dog, but Jami seemed to over hype and pump up his dogs. He had some good dogs but it was hard to tell how good they were since he pumped them all up as being the best of the best. He always said mugger was the roughest of the roughest and grunt the second roughest. I wonder what he would say about my el drogo dog .

I got some American bulldogs from him too. I saw rowebear at ap when the boar hunting stuff was legal and not frowned upon. Rowebear was a big boy. I got a pup off of yeti he was a good dog also but my pup wasn’t breed worthy but he was a fantastic house pet.

I have some good dog memories from back then from some of those dogs. It was a shame he caused issues for a lot of people, since he did seem to have some decent dogs in the mix even with being over hyped at times.

  13. Forgot to mention, from what I saw his best dogs were most likely uno and mugger.

Beating a dead horse. And I try not to shit on the RIP but at the same time I am not a fan of trying to preach the RIP into heaven, if that makes sense.

He made his story his own so if one were to accurately repeat said history, then I think that is OK.

Yes he had some really nice dogs who in the hands of others would have been even better, maybe even great dogs.

We paid Bob a big deposit for his pick male in the Virgil/Raptor litter. I was working and could not go but when he arrived some things had changed. Jami paid $$$$$ more than we agreed upon. The dog known as Drac was slated to come here but that didn't happen. I got a call and we all agreed to shift t
our money over a 'ready' dog named Brock. He was absolutely rank.

We bred to Virgil and got one of the best males I have ever seen and he was a big dog. Show weight was 60-61lbs. A real monster. I tried to breed to Drac a couple different times but there was always so much shit involved it never happened.

My buddy bought a male off Thug/Mugger that looked like Thug spit him out himself. He met up with a guy that had one off Grunt and the same female his pump came from. As they talked they had a couple details that were confusing. When they both got back home and checked papers they had 1/2 brothers born a week a part off the same female from two different registries. Jami was known for shit like this.

We figured out some years later that he bred dogs one way and then hung 'lesser' papers on them. If the dog worked out he would buy the dog back on the cheap, trade him back out, and then have a proven well bred dog that he had little to nothing invested.

Grunt was a cur. I know some guys who matched into him and one of their group saw Molly Bee and Zebo way back in the day, as well as the Panther dog. He said Grunt had way more mouth that any of them ever thought about having. But he was constantly looking for a place to go. The 2 wins came because no one had enough dog to last the three-four-five more minutes needed to bring the cur in him to the outside. Jami bought him as a legitimate 2XW with both wins coming from separate solid camps but the writing was on the wall. Jami bought him one weekend and within a month he was an advertised 5XW Grand Champion. In some of the pics "Grunt" has a white star on his chest and other pics show him as solid black. Go figure.

Getting back to the topic, they were all big dogs. I personally consider anything north of 48-49 to be a big dog. Jami just added 10-15 in his advertisements. Like I posted before this mongo male I have in the pic a few posts back would just about swallow Uno and he was a tad heavy in the pic. He is a bit over 70 so there is no way Uno was lean and fit at the advertised 72. With him between my legs I would guess upper fifties/low 60's, at best. Which is still a lot of bulldog to hold.

Not just trashing Jami but he ran the 'big dogs' so he comes up a bit in these topics. We had Mims Bo that was a match weight dog in the mid 50's. He beat a son down out of Deadlift/Mayday at 57 (I think, might be a pound or so off). We chased one of his big dogs from 57 to the low fifties, to the upper fifties, to the low fifties, and then down into the low 40's. Every time he called the weight we tried to pick it up and his weight changed.

But all really big dogs. I remember how exhausting it was to work Bo in the mid fifties. I don't know who got a better workout each day, him putting in work and me mugging him on and off the chain. We call it a dual purpose keep.

  15. Yeah I like my pitbulls around 50 lbs max. For bigger types I’ll go for American bulldogs and Rottweilers. I’ve never been into the American bully

I always liked Drac. He always told me Drac was protective and bit the tire after his daughter fell off her bike. We tested it and I walked up on them in a threatening way and sure enough Drac fired up and acted as if he would tear me up if I continued. Not sure what extent he would have gone to. My pitbulls are very people friendly so it surprised me. My drogo dog is the only one that seems like he wouldn’t sit back and watch me get attacked and get my butt kicked if someone grabbed me.

Sort of off topic but here I go again....

I have owned and had placed with a lot of dogs over the years. I have had one dog that tried to bite me and although I am sure he gave me a sign and/or signs it was coming. I simply missed them/didn't pay attention. Just one with the desire to bite a person.

Every dog I have ever owned, with the exception of this one, would load up with anyone and go for a ride. They were happy all get out to be rubbed on the head and not once did I ever have one show anything but love for people. I recently had two dogs stolen and I am absolutely positive they were super happy to pull up and go just to be close to people.

And at the same time I have never seen a bulldog with natural desires to protect a person. I am sure they are out there but I have never seen one. Jami told me the same thing when we were trying to breed to Drac. I thought he was full of shit but he could have very well been a dog with protective instincts. We had five maybe six Virgil bred dogs back then and a Virgil/Mayday type cross. They would bark at people on the chain but load up and leave the same. Maybe that initial issue with a stranger could be built upon and even encouraged, not sure. The rank cur Brock would act like he was a natural born killer until you got within rubbing distance and then he was a gentle as a lamb-with about the same amount of interest as a lamb in being a bulldog.

You may know these people by interacting with him in that time frame. A buddy of mine had dogs from Jamie in the mountains of NC. He actually did some dogs for Jamie and they had sort of mutual thing going with both benefitting from one another. There was one of the dogs from Victor down out of Haunch or Barracuda or something. He was suppose to be the next greatest dog to ever look thru a collar. He told us it was his final look and we should have tow dogs ready, he was that good. In less than ten minutes he found out he did not have as much dog as Jamie said he did. He squealed and hollered and hung it up in not time at all. Jamie told him adamantly not to put the dog down. Jamie had him picked up the next weekend and a month later he was in Florida as a 3XW with a stud fee of $1500. When the guy from the mountains started fielding calls and told the truth he and Jamie had a falling out. He told Jamie to come get all the dogs and their mutual agreement was no more. Jamie took his time just like he owned the world.

One Sunday morning he stopped by here and walked several out. Just after lunch when Jamie got home from church he had dogs tied to the porch steps, to the bumper of his Durango, to the fence post and one to the mail box. I wish he had taken pictures and better yet I wish I had seen the look on his face when the family rolled in from the Sunday morning service.

Babbling. Just coming off night shift.

Jamie loved the big dogs and embellished their weights once he owned them. He bought a bunch of good dogs and right after he got them home their win record and their show weight went up tremendously.

    He rolled like that.
