Had my share of internet battles about dry and fresh meat dieets, but non of the two diliver everyting a dog needs.
feeding fesh meat dieet is a fals secure feeling , as its the high contense of ""hormons"" and ""antibiotics"" that make your dog LOOK GOOD.
human consumption meats are kookt baked ore heated up in some form to kill of the antibiotics and hormon levels.
STILL the european health organisation hase disided to cut antibiotic levels in bio industry meat from cows to chikkens to sheep ecetera. becuase world wide people are getting risistand for antibiotics treadmend when infected tru illness and ore wounds ....

best feeding for a dog in training ""in my upinion"" is a mixture beween good quality kibbel and meat combined with suplemends like Performer rpm health tonic, its the ""Missing link"" that is needed. when on the chian just a good quality kibble and liquit. they wil live longer produce longer and are more healtyer during there lifes.............

    Hi,
Genuinely intrested in your opinions so here goes..lol.
Had both mine on BARF/RAW from been about 8months old, this was offal from butchers, pigs heads, lamb cheek etc, they loved it and for a couple of years seemed fine on this.
My male started to look dull(his coat did) and dry skin,so started using salmon oil in food along with ACV,sorted that out.
My lovely butcher then retired and his son was not as accommodating as his pops so looked and researched kibble again,i started with Burns Alert with no problems apart from them looking at me saying " WTF"..LOL.
Now having 3 at £50 for 15kg it does not work out easy on the pocket, but the dogs all have the same needs food wise so my question is kibble really a better choice than raw??
Is it possible to feed a kibble plus raw,not at same time,i have found out my male does not do well with beef products,so i tend to avoid buying it.
Can you reccomend a decent kibble,JWB made coats dull and i prefer first ingredient not to be maize/wheat etc,
Thanks and hope i havent waffled too much,so hard to type what im trying to say...lol.

Dont belive that non sense that you cant miks fresh meat with kibble. Some high end legal dog sports like greyhounds and sledge dogs are surounded with a billion $$ industry world wide, and they feed and micks kibble and fresh meat all the time for as long as i can remember, and getting top results and record breaking performances,, altho i used to feed Ucanuba, we resendly started to use Red Mills food.
Due to it being availeble at this time.

Miksing meat with kibble is something we always did being it in very small amounds and sometimes not at all.
But we never had any problems with it . also people and dog food companies tent to forget to mention that you need to soak your kibble in plenty of water!!! for 30 min .
Befor you give the food and if you micks meat in make sure its ""minst"" meat. take a pint and a halve of hot water put in the minst meat of your chooice(we used goat/dear/beef meat combination and 1/3 of the weight the dog gets for dinner) fork it put in your dry kibble and leave it . when the water is upsorbd fork it again and feed your dog... just make sure you dont use high protien kibble when you micks it with fresh(non bio industry) meat.. when a dog is of season he gets little to no meat at all!!. just high end quality kibble
again there are many ways to Rome. but the fresh meat barf lobby and there fans are starting to behave like the sugar and tabaco lobby....

I did used to feed it mixed as my old grandad had done, once mentioned this online and got jumped on saying "no point as dogs digest raw and kibble at different rates etc."
Im in UK so doubt Red Mills is available, though will look.
Thanks for advice really appreciate it,
If mixing food is good enough for huskys then im gonna go back to doing it that way again.
    Thanks again.xx

red mills is from ireland and is ez to get in the uk!!!! ofcours people from the uk try to convinse you to buy Gain, but dont.... when meat is minst and soakt in hot water(not boiled) and forkt it loosens up and deteriates in very small and tiny particels when the dry kibbel is put in the hot water contained with the meat, it is ubsorbt in the dry kibble.
when the water is compleatly ubsorbt then micks and fork it around a bit, you then have a compleat food with a FRESH protien sours that diguests perfect!!!!!! fresh meat containes 75% of water when the kibbel is mickst with water it will turn into a very sof sponge like material it wil diguest as fast as fresh meat.
, as a fat sours Horse fat is the best there is period, but scares and difeculd to get . so a alternatif sours should be lookt at, fish oil wil be a good second , but is often not pure and is mikst with bio industry ore low quality animal fats ..... atho it IS fat the fat itself is of low inpure quality......

connolys red mills is a very old company beside quality pet food they specialized in raceing feeds for dogs and horses!!. depending how your planning to feed anyone of them will be good. as said before tracker when you feed fresh meat, and Racer when you still feed fresh meat but less and the xcel without meat is a top of the line kibbel , but dont forget the amino acid importense!!..

was thinking of trying out the dried beef bags of dried feed, but the protein percentage is through the roof.over 50% protein.

I agree with Limey.I have mixed kibble with meat for years and it worked fine.I kept things simple and had good results. Skin problems are a pain and u have to find out what is causing the problem first.Starting with a good feed is first.Limey has given some good advice and so have others on here.

Reid skipper good observation!!. there ""was"" a problem a couple of years ago when they changed some of there basic ingriediense. as it is there racing/working line of kibbel is sold to profesional dogman and ofcours ""they"" like you notisched someting diferend,
(as dogs in peak shape like olympic sporters are vunareble for little mishaps like a cold and ore a slight change in diet and because of that can NOT perform at peak level)
sales dropt back and they quikly changed back to there old formula!!... so your very safe to get back at red Mills working line.
rezen why i fed eucanuba for a long time was because red mills wassend on hand here. but in the old days most of our stok was fed red mills!!!!. Im happy to have them back on it.. and as guys like you know there racing line is ""not"" for house pets, but for the real deal!!!............ to come back at the skin problems i can not stress enoughf that a combined groop of amino acids in a perfect formula will cure 80% of the skin problems out there.. also Protien posinoning makes up a great deal of skin problems as wel and other problems like intolerend dogs ecetera. Red Mills hase a couple of lines about that on there site they also tell you to soak dry feed/kibbel in water(not boild water) they know there stuf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  14. Limey kennels

    Limey kennels CH Dog

    thanks redrumdog,
and ofcours if your stupid enoughf to put in big chunks of fresh meat with ore without bone in a food boil and trow in dry kibbel and feed that to your dog you can get a digiestion problem!!!!!!. most of the time this happens with tightbred inbred dogs who have a lack of HYBRID VIGER, but when you prosses it a bit the way its discribed you get the best of both worlds.. and there will be no problem..
most of the battle/outcross dogs can diguest nearly everyting without a problem...

I have found that giving my dogs whole yogurt most days has some unexpected affects
urine is clear like water and stools do not smell
would this be because of amino acids in the yogurt helping to digest food better ?

I also give fresh dried milled seaweed and very small amounts of cod liver oil regularly

  17. Limey kennels

    Limey kennels CH Dog

cromsboss i dont know, i have no first hand ecsperiense with that... could be that some nutrience in the yogurt and ore seaweed brakes stuff down and ore brakes the coloration of the urine douwn like diferense types of vinigar have diferend colorations due to diferend ingridients . what ever the case your dogs do loose there waist other wize they would not be alive.
Cod liver oil used to be a great standard to give your dogs(very small amounds in deed) today its kind of obsolete. but if everyting els is not at hand use it...

read heurd about it in the eurly days!. some team members at the time where very high on it, I never used it,
Its one of those things that needs to fit your way i gues.
Over the years i slowly tuned up conditioning and feeding from where i started, and appel cider vinigar was never a part of it.
so i cant make a real comend on that one eather . like i said many ways lead to rome. if its for a lactic acid problem in your dog i sirguest potasion pills and Tye gard

also there are many ways ore products that have the same efect, and there are many bloodlines and dogs that react diferend, on the same products.
Its all about finding out what works best for you and your dogs.
Thats what Peak conditioning is all about...
altho suplemends ARE called for to get the max out of them ,dont use to many of them!!!!! at the same time.
there are two ways of useing them, you can Used them ore abuse them.
    same gose for anabolic steroids!!!.
Suplemends are often consentraighted products to AID where your dog have a genetic problem ore hase a lack of .
when you reconize where the lack is then you start to ad a sirtin suplemend to tune up and ore balance out.

People should NOT use them because a product sais what it thuse..
If you have a dog that hase a genetic lack of Lung Capacity no product ore blood builder wil ever increase it, BUT it ``wil`` help you to get the max out of what the dog system alouws you to ..
also some suplemends nutralize each other in other words you can put stuff in the dogs system but they will ``not`` work, and in that case you only put more pressure on the dogs liver and kidneys to proses it all.
so remember ``less can be more!!!``.... and thats the way the cooky crumbels
