CARSON CITY, NV (KRNV/CNN) - More than $7 million in gold coins was found in an elderly man's home after he passed away
Walter Samaszko Jr. was 69 years old when he died from heart problems in June. But he was reclusive and rarely interacted with neighbors. His body was not found until one month after his death.
After Samaszko's house was about to be put up for sale, the realtor and a neighbor went through the house to look at some of Samaszko's belongings.
    That's when they struck gold.
"We thought it was ammunition, opened it up and it was rolls of $20 gold pieces," said Joe Baxter, a neighbor of Samaszko's. "I've never seen that much gold in my life or coins that old."
The realtor immediately called Carson City Clerk and Recorder Alan Glover about the find. He said the weight of the gold alone is worth more than $7 million.
The weight was so vast that wheelbarrows were needed to take the gold out of the house.
And in addition to the gold, Samaszko also had $165,000 in stocks, $12,000 in cash, and several cases of ammunition, guns, and conspiracy theory books, according to Glover.
Despite all of his assets, Samaszko did not have a will. Originally from Chicago, Samaszko had been living in the same house with his mother since the 1960s. She passed away in 1992.
With no known next of kin, Glover had to search the mother's funeral records to locate a family member.
The closest relative he could find was a first cousin who lives in San Rafael, CA.
Glover said that after the IRS takes its cut, the rest of the millions could go to Samaszko's cousin.
