Bama is not known for basketball but I like our coach Avery Johnson. He is recruiting well. The have a top recruit this year that's a freshman named Collin Sexton everybody up in the air about.Bama suppose to make some noise this year so we shall see.

For Avery Johnson at least you will know they will play hard. And play defense. I always thought that would be his demise if he did not have 6 or 7 willing to go all out on the defensive end. If he can that many kids at Alabama to buy in he will be more than half way to the top of the SEC, and then some national attention.

There is simply very little defense left in college basketball. Even less in the pro game. The teams that win National titles are the teams that can play defense and choose to do so for 6 or 8 games in a row at the end of the season.

Good defense does not make the 'play of the day'.

True.Alabama had Latrell Spreewell and Robert Horry on the same team and never made it past the sweet 16 lol

I had forgotten that. I think Robert Horry is the reason for most of the titles his teams won in the NBA. With the Rockets, the Lakers and the Spurs at 6'10" when he stepped to the 3 point line the Hall of Famers played one on one.

He was one of my favorite NBA players.

One would think between the two they could score their way deep into the tournament.

I was a big fan. Even though the teams were great I wonder if the Lakers would have won those titles without him. haq would have been doubled way more and there would have been some one there when Kobe went to the basket. Horry forced spacing.

All of Olajuwan's footwork greatness needed spacing. Horry provided that night in and night out.

Excellent shooter and passer to boot.

I had a pretty good conversation with the Alabama grad this week about the playoff. If Clemson and Oklahoma win out they are in. Plug Miami into the same spot as Clemson. I have to think that if Wisconsin wins out they are in as the undefeated rep from the Big 10.

As usual the title route will go through the SEC. If Alabama loses Saturday and Georgia beats Auburn on the SEC title game that committee will be doing an all nighter. A 1 loss Alabama team compared to a 1 loss Georgia team who is the SEC champ? Or worse case scenario a 1 loss Alabama team compared to a 2 loss SEC champ in Auburn?

Of course with a win this weekend over Auburn most of that will be nixed.

A few years ago with Nebraska and last year with OSU I just have issue with 'didn't win your conference but can play for the National Title'.

If Alabama had a healthy linebacking corps I think I would crown them now. The unique style of Auburn's offense of 'starts off in a finesse setting, people move in misdirection, but in reality it is basic power football. It is a fullback lead with a power back, almost power I, just from different formations. I see a healthy Alabama team figuring it out, but I a depleted one I am not all that confident.

I have thought Alabama was the best team all year, even when ranked #2/#3. All year, skip this week and by January they will be the best team in America again, but may have to pound the shit out of the #7 or #8 team in the country to show it.

Miami just lost. This is the kicker for Auburn being a two loss team in the play off. I knew it would be tough but I for Miami I was looking forward to the ACC title game. This loss may very well bump the ACC out of the pic. If Miami beats Clemson, I can see Auburn jumping the Canes for the last spot.

I see Oklahoma at #1, Alabama #2, Wisconsin #3 and Auburn #4. If Auburn beats Alabama and the rest wins out.

If Auburn wins against Alabama the committee will sure hope they win against Georgia. A Georgia win would make it way complicated.

Reading some of the news last night it looks like Alabama might be the first one left out.

As I read it I can almost see the point. Strength of schedule is going to hurt. No real signature wins.

Three weeks ago I thought they were the best team in the country. Three weeks from now I think they will again be the best team. Just not enough LB's yesterday and some offensive line injuries as well.

Depending how things pan out in the title games I am going to stick with 'if you can't win the conference title you should not play for the National Title. I ripped at OSU last year so I think I am going to hold fast there.

Today I do not think they will get in. Today I am not so sure the body of work says they should be in the four.

Just by being Alabama and being the 'best' team in America up until yesterday I will not plant them just yet.

My four today is Clemson/Miami winner, Oklahoma , Wisconsin and Auburn.

An upset in the Big 10, or Oklahoma/TCU and I think they squeeze back in.

If the ACC and SEC winner is in regardless, if Oklahoma and Wisconsin win then the four is set without Alabama. A two loss OSU team as the Big Ten champ will not jump Alabama. And a two loss non titled Oklahoma team will not get in.

There should be OSU and TCU signs all over Tuscaloosa this week.

I saw some highlights this morning. I worked last night. One of the internet headlines last night ''if Bama had 4".

I'm old school on this one, D-1 and all, they would be running til I was tired of them puking. Just saying.

I'm actually a UT Vols fan. We have talent for sure, I am very disappointed in my team. I am glad the Head Coach was fired. 4 1/2 million dollars a year
and can't win games ? However, I respect Alabama. The Tide is and has been the truth every since I can remember. Sir Charles Barkley said it best yesterday on college game day. A few years ago Alburn won the Iron bowl with the kick 6, This year they won with the Kick Ass ! "War fn Eagle couch Gus Malzon had them boys ready to play. Clemson Tigers, Miami is going to be a battle, I gotta go with the Cain's . I also see , War Eagles beating Georgia Bulldogs again
    Who knows
I don't think it's fair that Alabama with only 1 lost in a hostel environment should be out of the playoffs. Jmo

The four in front of them are locks if they win their conference title games.

The kicker is that the SEC and ACC have spots locked down. Either winner will be in from those two conferences.

Alabama has to be praying to the TCU and Buckeye Gods this week.

I'm thinking the dysfunctional Tennessee program is going to have to pay a coach who will never coach there. That is a host mess on ol' Rocky Top.

I'm mixed on Mullen going to Florida.

I'm wondering about Jimbo too. I'm thinking he will stay at FSU but I am sure A&M will be flashing $$$$$$$.

I see Tenn. withdrew its offer after the agreement and the offer. I was saying they will now have to pay him for him not coaching at Tenn. Which, in turn may be a win-win for Schiano.

For announcers I have become a big fan of Booger MacFarland. This guy is like a regular guy who truly understands not only football, but football players. He should be on the Gameday front line. He is that good.
