coyote hunting in ohio

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by turtlebuster12, Feb 4, 2013.

  1. I havent seen anything about being legal/illegal about hunting coyotes with dogs in Ohio. If it is legal what would be your thoughts on using APBT as one of the dogs? Not a catch dog of course, unless you think that could work which i doubt. Just curious as these damn coyotes run rampart where i live. Thanks for the input.

hell yeah i have dogos pits patts and bully lurchers and a dogo will put the breaks on these fuckers like its nothing if ur bully is grown get so experience dogs but them in a pretty big pen but a coyote in there let the hound find them put ur bully in she what he does you will be able to tell if he is good because if he is he will get closer and closer until they are knocking jaws personally i use dogos and patts but i have had a few patts get snached up never send beagles on them the beagles are to slow and small plus there all bark no bite u are very true i sell my working dogos for around 2 thousand but one of these and ur bully might work but if i was u id get some bully lurchers and a nice .22 and u will be knocking down coyotes all weekend dogos are good for everything hogs coons coyotes but with coyotes never send just one dog out because u will not get him back.

Well now if you put a coyote in a pen and sick your dogs on him that is a form of baiting even though coyotes r a pain in the ass..check your local laws about such things ..it could get you in serious trouble.Just givin you a heads up man...best thing to do is find some people that live in your area that hunt coyotes and get to know them.

we use to train our hog dogs in pens but they made it illegal where I live..So if your going to do such a thing you best keep it to yourself and dont do it in the backyard.

  10. I wouldnt do it if is illegal. Just seeing what ppl yhought about it if it is legal

as far as turning the dogs loose on one in the wild its not illegal in my state but when you put one in a pen and turn your dog loose on him it is illegal.

Here in Indiana the coyotes have been getting family pets and scarimg parents. I feel confident my bulldogs can at least occupy one until the .40 cal arrives!

no these coyote will eat up a dog and if u just send 1 u need about 4 and no you will have to bring a gun and yes there called fox pens and they are illegal in some states but if you can the easyer way to trap em is use a BIG pen trap shoot a coon or skunk throw it in the back and back a few but u will need atleast one catch dog to hold the yote then u walk over and dispatch him and on to the next one you will need to be in a truck with ur catch dog in the back let ur bully luchers run em dog once they got him release the catch dog

  20. Im gonna try to find me some coyote hunters around here and see if i can maybe tag along on a hunt.
