CSI: Need to vomit?

I just got finished watching the CSI episode about the dog fighting ring and OMG do I feel the need to wring those writers necks! Whoever said "kudos" to them doing this episode, shame shame.

I don't even know where to begin. Is it the fact that the woman murdered in the episode was strapped to a "rape stand" and then the pit bulls were let loose to ravage her? (mind you these were fighting dogs tearing her apart and not bothering about each other)

Or was it the guidelines they listed that dogfighters do such as:
-run them on treadmills until they drop
-strengthen their jaws (showing a dog on a springpole)
-feed them small dogs and sometimes kittens to give them the taste of blood and to make sure they keep the taste for blood

Or was it the guy taking pictures of human treadmills as evidence?

ARGH! Absolutely unbelievble piece of crappy media propaganda.

To make a long story short, they made pit bulls out to be blood-thirsty human killing canines. There was absolutely no sympathy about the animal abuse as some seemed to think they were trying to get at. It's all about the dogs known as murderers.

And every single one of you can be damned sure that I WILL be writing a letter to CBS and to the show.

Ya, i myself seen it and really all i could do was laugh. The people i was watching it with was a good example of what this show does to people to have no idea what the truth is and they think the automatically the truth on just what was showing. Because all i heard was is that what you doing to your dogs and shit like that. Like when they where showing the springpole and treadmill everybody looked at me and was asking if i fight my dogs. I laughed it was like they assumed i was doing this shit just cuz there a springpole in my front yard and bla bla. And another thing they showed a match and the dogs to me had a big weight diffrence plus they showed it as the matches are 2 mins long and the loser automatically dies and the winner comes out with no cuts our anything. And then the showed it how some dog was getting poisen poured on him to make the opp sick. LOL from what i heard/know they wash eachother dogs before they fight for that purpose. And i was really pissed how they showed the dogs to as soon as the cage was opened they automatically all attacked the girl like they where lions. Then they showed the one bitch beat the hell out of a dog. Show was just all wrong imo. Just another good example as once the media gets ahold of something they exploit the hell out of it. Just hope that the more this shit comes out there isnt even more bsl bullshit.

I have been in the CBS CSI forum for a while now, trying to defend our breed, but find myself not being able to say certain things, because people will suspect I'm a dogfighter. It's insane, but I will share one with you that got me mad....

"ProfessorBoh said: Come on. Pit bulls were bred to be fighting dogs. Their name comes from putting them in "The Pit" as ratters or to fight other dogs. It's like Doberman's were bred to vicious guard dogs. Nobody gets a pit bull because they're cute and cuddly."

"NovDov18 (me) said: Actually, my boyfriend's father has owned many dobermans and they were very sweet dogs. Those are another dog who were Demonized by the media....
Were American Pit Bull Terriers bred to be fighting dogs? Yes. Is that their only purpose? No. Is that the only reason to own one? Heck no. I own one, and never did and never will fight her. She is a loving loyal dog. My friends who own this breed do not and will not fight their dogs. They put them in conformation shows and weight-pulling. My one friend has an APBT that is a therapy dog, so please don't generalize that if someone owns a "pit bull" that they fight it...
A little lesson, "pit bull" refers to five main breeds, and is mistaken as 20 others. The five main breeds are American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and Bull Terrier. The dog most people think of as "pit bulls", at least, joe schmoes, is the American Bully...The American Pit Bull Terrier can be gamebred, which means from fighting lines, but just because someone owns a gamebred APBT doesn't mean they fight them, like I pointed out earlier."

I didn't even finish the show. I switched to HBO and "The Hills Have Eyes." to me, that was more believable!

    DAMN IT!

I had mild hopes that it wouldn't be like that. But WTF?!?!? The fighting dogs killed a girl strapped to a breeding stand......

You know the ASPCA has been pushing this show and that's how they portray the breed? That is ridiculous....

  6. .............and all you could do was laugh?

  7. Exactly! This is precisely what I predicted it would be like.

Good work Mia, I will be writing a letter as well.

Could they have put in more of the stereotypical BS ? I get that it is a T.V. Show but come on, how is that they get most of the information correct about regular murder episodes but screwed the pooch ( no pun intended ) on this one ? Anyways I was a little disappointed on this episode, they could have atleast done some homework on the subject with real information not just the typical myths of the ASPCA and HSUS.

P.S. If anyone is writing do not forget to write to T.V. Guide, they have a nice letter section that they post everyweek that everyone gets to read not just the the T.V. show in question.

I'm sure they had a consultant with a "humane" group on the subject.

What really got me was when the show contradicted itself. The boy said the dogs were great : the lady would beat them and two seconds later they would be waging their tails and licking him. Then they show the dogs attacking her? Give me a break! Can't say I expected any better:(

just another example of bad publicity, but its shows like this that fuel the fire for all the uneducated people out there.they belive anything they see on tv and nothing that they see in the real world. i have had many phone calls from friends that watched this show
they were all upset after the show telling me i needed to get rid of my dogs because this was going to happen to me. after about the first phone call i told them they needed to get a real life and quiet living in a tv world.if people would spend half the time they do watching misinformed shows and researching facts then this kind of crap wouldnt cause as many problems.... Dont believe anything you see on t.v. i thought this was terrible not the least bit funny

I'm waiting for the comments today at work about that crappy show and the fact that everybody here knows I own an A.P.B.T.

I may not get any remarks because I've shut the B.S. down so fast in the past I think most of them know better;) !

Besides, if a person lets Hollyweird influence the bulk of their opinions for them, then I just don't have any time for that particular species of stupidity.

I'm like my dog-don't start nothin', won't be nothin'...

  15. While I understand the hatred towards this episode (believe me it makes me sick to my stomach too) for the plain simple fact that folks like you and do not use this equiptment in such a manner......BUT

you all act like no one does? They do.....thats the problem we all have right now..dead beats and gangs and thugs and low-lifes owning these dogs that obviously should not!!!!!!!!!
Do I think that it should displayed on TV.....well not really, but hey, neither should all of the other bullshit they drown you out with either....rape, guns, drugs, murder the list goes on.....and on and on.......

And please all note...I am NOT defending anything here....I am just simply making a point!

You make a good point here FK, and an unfortunately true one. I watched the towards the middle/end of this episode, and had goosebumps. ICK.

and a very good point it is. the good have to suffer for the bad until the good get tired of it then they will channell their anger to the right people

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, but my main problem was the dogs attacking the dead body scene. If they would have left that whole part out of the episode, I believe I would have had a lot more respect for the episode.

Yeah, that kid had it right there. One ray of light, the kid talked about all the evidence that he brought them, all the video tapes and all the names etc. But the federales didnt do anything with it. Were they just holdin out for a big name to walk in the camera frame or what? Shows their true motivation right there, dont care about the dogs, just the bust. The fed who was handling the kid also said it took him over a year to get inside...guess they needed another to make charges stick. Didn't really expect them to come correct on the episode, but I was hoping they would let the "bait dog" myth stay on the editing floor.. No luck there. You see the bait? A poodle?! Shouldve just gave the dog a piece of steak if you wanted him to keep the taste. What a waste of time.
