Exactly! I bet every time Zebo changed hands it was worth the sellers time. Mofos lyin sayin they would put a dog down of Zebo's quality. Anything with teeth bites. It's up to the breeder/handler/owner to know the risks if he decides to keep such an animal

Once A dog tears A kid up like that I don't care who he is he wont have enough time to take A drink of water!! To many others around, I couldn't live with myself giving him A pass! That child will live with that the rest of his life!

Sad that in the article the mountain man states the first time he met Zebo he bit him, yet he brings him back has another few encounters with him biting then sells him on, only for Zebo to bite a kid and be sold on again.

The Colby dogs getting loose were reported in the first post. Colby never got in trouble for it even his nephew dying and the dog wasn't even taken away. Maybe he dealt with it himself, who knows.

Because when it all boils down, for the most part the dogs are judged on working ability. If the dog showed all those signs don't blame the kid on the dog, blame it on the owner. I've walked on a few yards with manbiters, and I was told up front "don't get within reach of that one"

My sentiments exactly.....When one has a yard full of bulldogs regardless if they are people friendly or not there should be guidlines and RULES set aside for those that have children around. Number one rule should be that no child may enter the dog yard without the OWNER actually there to supervise them.

"When he was 10 months old, I went out to feed and clean up one day and I decided to play around with him a little. I started jumping at him and just trying to get him fired up. Bad mistake! He took me serious and grabbed my favorite shirt and was not about to let go, despite my firm slap upside his head, which just pissed him off more. I had to rip my shirt to get away from him and that pissed me off! I stood back and he was trying his best to get to me. It was down right scary! Now I am easy going, but when provoked I can get as nasty as anyone can. SO I went in the house, got my 44 magnum and went out to dust this fool dog. When I got back to his space, he was just standing there looking all-innocent at me. I raised the gun at him and he went ballistic again! I pulled it up just over his head and fired a shot and I swear he never even flinched! He was trying his best to get me! I decided that maybe I had better check him out before I put him down. That evening I made a call to QFK. I told them the story and asked them to bring the baddest dog they had close to that weight to put on him. That weekend we did. The other dog was two years old and a serious match prospect. To put it lightly Virgil ended this dog*s career before it ever got started in only 16 minutes! So needless to say he got to hang around and I started making a conscious effort to get closer to him. I would still get cold chills sometimes when I was in his chain space. If you made a wrong move that he mistook for any kind of a challenge, you were in big trouble unless you beat him to the end of his chain."

GrCh.Virgil is a very smart and eccentric type of dog. The thing is most people only remember what they want to remember about Virgil being a house pet that befriended a cat and roamed free and followed G around while he tended the other dogs in his yard, but they tend to over look the time Virgil almost got culled for being a MAN BITER!!! LOL

I have one that grabbed my pant leg a couple weeks ago and started shaking it like a rag doll because he was so worked up about the dog next to him. I hit him with the tape measure I had in my hand and he let go and was acting in a manner as to say "I'm sorry, I didn't know that was you." He is a high strung dog and quite frankly I'm not surprised he did it. It shocked me but I can't say I'm too surprised after thinking about who I'm dealing with lol.

Having said that, I would NEVER let a child around that dog. And most people who ever meet him will probably never touch him. Not because he's a BITER but because he's a high strung dog that gets worked up over nothing. He is not aggressive towards people at all but a lot of dogs are not man biters but just were worked up and bit somebody. Hence the gambler article above. Could be the human's fault more than the dog's in some cases.

As far as kids go I don't think a lot of game dogs See kids as human, but more of a challenge because they are closer to thier size or maybe even see them as pray. When I was about 10 I had a smaller cousin who was around 7 and Bulldog had gotten loose and tried to attack my smaller cousin.I battled this dog and kept him off my cousin for around 100 yds and he never once bit me or saw me as any type of threat. But he was 100 percent focused on my smaller cousin,we made it out with out much harm but if I hadn't have been there it would have been bad.i have saw more than one dog that just don't see small kids as they do adults.

I feel it all comes down to what the individual dog we are talking about is accustomed to. Kids, especially young kids 12 and under, make movements that are very triggering to a dogs prey drive. Kids have to be taught how to act around dogs as much as dogs have to be socialized and taught how to act with children if they are expected to have contact with them at any point in the dogs life. Now, this is just what I have seen first hand. Everyones expierences are different but I've had these dogs around babies on up to adults the entire time I've owned them and they are very keen to children. Even my hardest of dogs. They more times then not in my expierence drastically soften up around them. Chain brains that have little interactions socially other than to be fed or worked will view children and their movements as prey. They make movements and sounds that excite the dog.

Combat dogs should be loving around humans ideally. But their main purpose isn't to lick and love you it's to kick ass. The good ones get kept. I have never heard of anyone planting a phenomenal pit dog due to agression. An average one sure. With these dogs you have to be responsible and honest for what you have because they aren't your average pet in the same way a lot of race horses aren't a calm, gentle pet for your daughter.

IMO two narratives in these dogs that are killing these dogs is that a game dog or combat dog is for everyone/every situation and the advice commonly thrown out "get you a good bitch and back her up to the best producing stud you can afford" then you've got a yahoo who instead of raising on puppy is now juggling 5-10 pit dogs.

Mine gets too excited when he knows it's feedtime so he gets put into seclusion before I even begin to prepare his meal. Normally he's ok with kids but if he's knows he's about to eat he nips at anything besides the two leggers in my household. He'll nip at the cat also but won't chase or latch into him. So while I don't consider him HA a nip to the face of a child could scar them for life so I take know chances now.

A game dog is one who often needs to be saved from itself. When it comes to these dogs most if not just about all the time it's the owners fault from attacks on humans to dogs not turning out .
