  5. There was dogs in North Wales to....I don't think they all originate in the Midlands...

  6. There is a historic picture @ Stedz...from the museum of Welsh life...of a North Wales Shepard named "Ellis Huges a sheep farmer at Glasfin Clewd with his two Welsh Grey sheepdog and a Fox Terrier"......The fox terrier in the picture resembles a early pit dog...the picture is dated around 1900...

  10. I sure do like the Collies bread in North Wales..and I've always thought hummm??they would be cracker dogs to cross to Greyhounds to make Lurchers....

As for the Welsh greys ...they are extinct or absorbed into the Border Collie gene pool..

More of the case that remote communities haven’t got room for a dog that can’t do the job well. The best lurchers are collie crosses though imo. But everyone knows what reigns supreme on the big land in the day.

  12. I get ya....I've always said the environment constitutes ,and the prey for that matter, constitutes the type of Lurcher you can use...
I'm not saying it's set in stone..as in some cases you gotta work with wat you have,or wat your limited to...so what I mean is Collie lurcher my be the best to fill the pot..but if you had a beddy whippet bull cross that filled the pot youed be happy all the same...

  13. I gotta also say I'm a big fan on Collie Lurchers..and if I had the means to keep a lurcher the Collie crossed to a Greyhound would be my first choice.so either half collie half greyhound..or quarter collie three quarter greyhound.....

But I don't have use for such a beast..

That said, while I'm chatting shit...if I had a load of bambi by me I think the prepared cross would be half bull half grey,or quarter bull three quarter greyhound...

That said lol....I could go on and on....
    Dogs for jobs really.

  15. Sounds like a interesting speedy mix.....
I got J Darcys book"Scooby"......I'm sure that dog was a mix of what you just said..and of reading the book that dog took a hell of a lot of bambi before all the bans came in....
Witch brings me to a point...I'm a huge fan of Collie x Greyhounds, and I consider them to be proper poaching Lurchers.indeed it's common believe for the dog to be a genuine Lurcher Collie blood must be there...however I dont share this belief....I quite agree that Collie ones are great Poachers dogs..but what if your poaching bambi lol?...I suppose you would probably need a bit of different dog then....
    Interesting topic .......

Collie grey will do a little bit of everything not many other crosses can say the same you correct in saying there the best poachers dog imo.

  17. I've always wondered about Collie Grey to a Bull Grey...I no it's hard to just lump breeds together...but somehow try and keep the Collie and Grey characteristics, with some of the gameness and strength of the Bull....
No easy task lol.selection would be vital.

I'm just rambling by the way.just chatting shit lol.....
