It can be an excellent tool. It can bring their heart rate up and give them a pretty good workout.

Time and speed is solely dependent upon the dog on the mill. Each and every one is different.

I use one. They have pros and cons like any other tool. Just keep a close eye on the dog if using one. Injury can happen fast on the E-mill since the dog can't stop or slow pace on it's own. Recipe for disaster if you aren't 100% in the moment with the dog or you dont know the signs of fatigue.

    Again. What he said.

That is a sit on front and watch him closely mill.

If something happens it will be like dropping your dogs paws on a belt sander. LOL

Well put, pros and cons like any other tool.

All of your question were answered. Yes others have used them and speed/distance/time is dependent on the dog.

Experienced or not, Helpful advice regarding the safety of your dogs was provided bro… to look a gift horse in the mouth.

There is no one person that can actually give advice to another about working/conditioning a dog on any piece of equipment. Period.

I don't do lectures because most do not listen.

    But here is some advice.

Put your dog on the electric mill.

    See what happens.

Learn some stuff and correct some stuff.

    Then you will know.

Between putting your dog on the mill and actually knowing some stuff odds are and history says you will fuck a couple up before you get from Point A to Point B.

I simply put some stuff out there because I have seen a number and owned a number that got fucked up going from Point A to Point B.

Not that I give a fuck about you or your feelings, But I do like dogs. And don't like to see dogs get fucked up while someone is plodding thru the learning phase.

    Good luck with your dog.

  10. I have not seen a single number how is that an answer to my question ?
Of course every dog is different thats why i am asking what YOUR dog does.and yes of course the safety stuff is self explanatory i learned all that over the last 30 years but hey i only have a handful of posts i musnt know anything.
it was a simply worded question as was my question about kibbles on another topic but again no actual answers just do's and dont's lectures.
too many chiefs and not enough indians maybe.

  11. LIkewise i dont give a fuck about you and dint ask you to answer with your views and opinions it was a very simple question to draw comparisons between different dogs regarding numbers. little did i realise all dogs are different silly me !

Your question was answered. Several times. There is no one definitive answer to the question for how long. It depends on the dog. THAT IS THE ANSWER! Do you not comprehend that?

I do 15 minute sprints with 2 minute trots back to sprint. When I say sprints I mean wide open. That's with one that runs it regularly. I run that one for an hour and 10 like that. Then there is another that is just starting to learn the mill. Obviously you wouldn't run that dog that's not use to that kind exertion all out for an hour. You build them up to it over a period of time and that time also depends on the individual dog. Basic maintenance for a pet I'd do a steady trot for a half hour or so. Adjust depending on the signs the dog is showing you. Other than that, not sure what else your looking for as far as an answer.

The last person I'd insult though on this topic is Slim. Out of anyone here that's who I'd direct a question like this to. Can't understand if you can't comprehend.

No one was implying you don't know anything. You're very sensitive and reactive to people, remindes me of little man syndrome. Your questions were answered on that other thread as well. If you been into the dogs for 30 years then why you asking these types of questions. Seems like you've never fed one or worked one. After 30 years you still aint figured out its trial and error with each and every dog as far as both topics you've posted? Like really.....

Your absolutely correct there is no definite answer like what came first the chicken or the egg it's not set in stone what to do but you write on the stone in chalk cause you gonna earse some stuff u do with 1 dog and add some stuff with another it's a chess match...u learn more and more daily as u watch your dog...KEEP WORDS WAAATCCCH YOUR DOG..the dog will tell u if he can take more or needs a Lil less

    Most definitely not offended.
I thought it was asked and answered.
So I will give it another whirl.

There is no person, nor dog man on earth that can write down an accurate 'keep' or amount of work a dog needs at any given point in time. There is no possible way to say a dog needs X amount of anything 2-3-4-5-6 weeks from now. It is simply impossible.

One of my favorite things in the world to read is written keeps. And if a person were to follow another person's instructions the dog will either miss light with not enough work or miss heavy with too much work. The odds of hitting it on the mark is really close to picking the right numbers on this weekend's PowerBall. The odds are overwhelmingly against the user.

I am hoping that is enough of an answer because I would never say X amount of this or X amount of that about any thing work wise with a dog. (Someone may think I actually know something and then jack their own dog up....and I really do like dogs...so I can't see helping to jack one up)

As far as soaking food or not soaking food......it basically comes down to if the dog has access to an ample amount of clean fresh water. If the food is soaked he will not go to the water bowl as often. If it is not soaked he will do the 'soaking' himself as he will drink more water on dry food.

I soak food in the winter but not in the summer. In the winter dogs can get dehydrated a bit easier than the summer because sticking my nose in a cold bowl of water when it is 30F outside just does not sound all that appealing. Dogs the same. I soak it to ensure hydration. In the summertime the heat helps force the dog to the water bowl so he does the soaking himself.

Two tests to perform. Get a couple three bowls with a cup of dry food each. Add three different amounts of water to each. A 1/3 cup to one, then 2/3's and then a full cup. Let them sit. They will swell and start to come apart.

Two things to note: The faster and the bigger they swell the cheaper/less quality the dog food. Lots of fillers. The longer the better. And second when it starts to come apart that is the right amount of water to use going forward for that particular brand of dog food. A dog with healthy kidneys will drink, piss and shit himself correct from there.

Second feed a dog straight raw for a month. Watch him slowly come off his water bowl as the raw food carries quite a bit of moisture. But once he is on raw and his daily feeding of raw and water consumption has levelled off.....feed him a bowl of dry food. He will then knock the bottom out of the water bowl.

Again, my apologies for not making a better attempt. LOL

Never got in my mind like which mill is better. I am always about the dog. The choice of the right dog is always at first place than the equipment.
For me is more important to pick the right dog than picking the right mill. Each dog has his own program. First I got to know my dogs than I got to look which tool for which dog .

  18. The question wasnt a " tell me because i dont know " question it was a " tell me what your dog is doing " question.
Of course there is not one definitive answer i was not looking for one definitive answer i was asking what YOUR dog is doing at the moment....do you not comprehend that ?
Fair play though at least you have actually answered the question with some numbers.
I honestly didnt realise i was asking such a complicated question !

  19. Outstanding comeback you win the internet.

  20. Appreciate you taking the time to answer the kibble question sir much obliged.

The mill question as i just explained i wasnt asking anything about keeps or fitness at all i was simply asking what you are doing with your dog....speed/time etc would of been perfectly fine.....like if i asked how fast did you drive your car yesterday im not asking for technical advice or the do's and dont's of racing cars im literally simply asking what speed you drove your car yesterday....thats it.

Again i didnt think it was a particularly difficult thing i was asking....but hey apologies if i came across rude.
