He has been trying to teach me a lot of things about medicine, feed, work and all that. Seems to have a solid understanding of upkeep and husbandry as his animals look good. But here's the thing I didn't mention, I was scrutinizing the pup from the moment he got in the car. Immediately thought bad about him just cuz he acted like he didn't want to run up to the front like his sister was. He was slow and apprehensive, not high strung and hyper like his sister. He got bit in the ankle by a mini poodle when he was 7 months old, tucked his tail and fled. Ever since then, even on walks, he is always cautious of places where there is dogs. But I wonder is it truly his bloodline into question or is it that I was always unconfident and talking bad to him. I never knew it was that easy to ruin a dog.

And that my friend is how LE nails you. Then in court, misconstrued words become evidence used to show intent. I'm looking out for you so don't take it as I'm being a prick. I can tell you mad stories on people getting their yards PTS and the owners fighting for their own freedom just off some misconstrued words caught on tape, on here, pedonline, FB etc. Words can and will be used against you. Always keep that in mind when talking to folks.

Dogs are individuals... they're not robots or clones of each other. Ever meet a shy quite kid who gets pushed to far and manhandles the folks fucking with him?

Ever see the loud obnoxious asshole who is always aggressive get his shit punched in by someone he should've easily whipped?

What's on the outside for the world to see isn't always what is on the inside.

The more you tell us the more I think it's you not having an understanding of what you're looking at or for. Sounds like you want a gr ch attitude out of a pup who's never been given a fair shake.

Not being ugly just being honest in my assessment of your posts.

Lao Tzu said, "be careful on what you water your dreams with. If you water them with doubt, worry or ignorance, you will produce weeds that will strangle and choke the life out of your dream. But if you water them, with hope, optimism, and trust they will flourish beyond your wildest imagination".

I will never take offense to honest constructive criticism. That was the thing, I'll always be honest no matter how ashamed I am. How can I or anyone else grow in this life otherwise? What I want is a solid family of bulldogs. I don't care about ascending to high levels right now. I see things much differently now than when I first got him, but the question is always there.

I know what I did and how that has had an effect on him. All I can do now, is start back at square one. It seems his brothers and sisters are doing well though. Guess that should've told me something. Just been getting a lot of wrong info for a long time. Thanks again.

Post his ped. Wanna sell him? Someone may be interested in taking him off your hands.

But then in a year you may be kicking yourself all over again.

I doubt hurricanes, the story on the alpha pup, or the shit eater nipping him had anything to do with how he is. It is the handlers job to bring the fullest out the animal. If you haven't ever been confident in him and helped him build his confidence where is it supposed to come from? It's not gonna fall out the sky and land on his head.

You can only built a dog's confidence to a certain degree. The rest is genetics and if the genetics are not there, it's not there.

If you do nothing to build their confidence they'll never developed any. It's the handlers job to read the animal, situation, and to facilitate development.

Disliking the dog and never giving it a chance will destroy any natural confidence there is.

I understand genetics and how they work. I also know and understand the concept of working with what you have. According to the guy all the siblings are cock strong confident animals. So loosely speaking genetically the confidence was there and not nurtured. So I don't change anything I stated before.

I never said NOT to build confidence in the dog.

So what you said doesn't pertain to anything I said? Then why quote me?

All I've said is the confidence wasn't built from the moment he was picked up from the breeder so of course the animal isn't showing it.

I guess I'm confused why you would quote me, try to correct me, then say you weren't. Unless the entire conversation went over your head.

Definitely don't agree with this. A good dog man can take a average dog and make it look incredible. This same puppy op is questioning. In two years I will have homeboy reaching in his pocket for. Seen to many that were cur/ man biter bred turned into really good bulldogs because the man behind the dog is the biggest factor.

All I'm saying is genetics, as well as confidence makes the dog. And just so you know, nothing goes over my head.

I agree the man behind the dog is a big factor. I also think genetics play into it.

You have an extremely poor know it all attitude. How many year hands on experience do you have for the breed?

Genetic ability vs the trainer/handler’s ability is a complex topic imo, but I tend to agree the benb’s last post. Look not everyone can afford to wash out a less than ‘perfect’ dog from a program that they’re invested in.

I never said I know it all because I don't and neither do you. What I do know is this. If you have a problem with what I post, instead of you having a know it all attitude, you can explain in a "adult" way without the ego why you feel differently and maybe I would be able to learn from it.
I've been on this forum since the beginning, and I learned a lot and I still have a lot to learn.

I get it. Ok, what if the trainer builds the confidence and the dog still does not do what it's supposed to do. Can you then say it does not have the genetic ability?

That only protects you if the other person isn't wired or a C.I.
Like FWK said, silence is golden. If your fortunate enough to find an old timer that wants to take you on that would be ideal but discussing methods that have to do with working a dog in current times online or over the phone lines just isn't smart anymore. The risk is far to high for most. Unfortunately, you do have to worry about those 2 groups you mentioned. They will go hard to incarcerate you simply off your words. You don't even have to commit a crime to get found guilty of intent and intent tends to be pretty easy to prove when it comes to these dogs and their owners. Never forget that. Could save you a bid someday.

I did. You quoted me again and tried to justify your initial post that doesn't pertain to this situation. Being on a forum doesn't mean much. Anyone can join one.

So again how many years hands on do you have with the breed? Maybe it's a lot but if your experience is being on a forum maybe read, learn, get hands on experience before trying to correct others. Js
