Just curious, but with all of the color and size variations in our breed of dog, how can you say that it must be a staff just because the tail is thick?

Can show me somewhere in the breed standard that the tail can only be so thick?

Below is all that i could find.

    Tail
<HR>The tail is set on as a natural extension of the topline, and tapers to a point. When the dog is relaxed, the tail is carried low and extends approximately to the hock. When the dog is moving, the tail is carried level with the backline. When the dog is excited, the tail may be carried in a raised, upright position (challenge tail), but never curled over the back (gay tail).

Fault: Long tail (tail tip passes beyond point of hock).

Serious faults: Gay tail (not to be confused with challenge tail); kinked tail.

    Disqualification: Bobbed tail.

    Hmm. Good post.
I just thought I remembered someone saying the Pit's tail was thin, and the Staffordshire tail was pretty thick.

Honestly, I wouldn't be quick to call him an APBT, AST, or any other purebred. While he definitely "looks" like something along those lines, I met a guy with a Labrador Retreiver/Boxer mix and I honestly thought he had a gorgeous "pit bull"....the dog was about 50 lbs, beautiful head, nice earset, and a wonderful, lean body. He was technically a mutt, but under the definition of "pit bull", it was also one of those.

Your dog would definitely be considered a "pit bull', but toget specific about the breed is hard to do considering the dog did not come from an honest and reputable owner/breeder who kept an accurate pedigree on him.

But.......none of that matters for a dog to make a great family pet and a great partner. The fact that you love him and have brought him into your home where he can spend the rest of his days is very admirable. The best advice is for you to do right by him, and he'll do right by you. It's a dream come true for both of you. :)

To be fair I never said it was a staff because of the tail. The tail just seemed thicker than what the average bulldogs is.

Most of the people that have ''A.P.B.T.'' say alot of crazy stuff about their breed. I will tell u the truth. Yes there is a few game dog breeds within what u call A.P.B.T. breed of dog.
1.there are bulldogs and there are A.P.B.T.
2.APBT are bred to walk around call names , have bite people, put spike collars on .
3.APBT have a jaw that locks and has 10000000000000000000000000000000092 pounds of pressure per [] inch.
4.APBT are well known for the size of their head , and its the american way the bigger and wider the better.
    5. Now What i call the AGD what stands for ''american game dog'' is bred for one thing and only one thing and if anyone tells u other is wrong they are bred for gameness !

not tail size, color, mouth size, size, eye color, head size ,or any of that bullshit.
gamedogs come from gamedogs! thats it !
Looks will only help u when u have a family bred dog . and i can only tell u a few in the world that have them.

Around my part of the south we call a dog a Gator Mouth because of the shape his mouth is in as well as if he just so happens to get into it with another dog you'll notice he'll initiate what's called the "death roll" that Alligators do.

Thought the same thing. Zebo, snooty, dibo, all in third generation of an obviously modern dog.
Peds don't get any faker than that.

That is funny, hopefully you are just joking around. If not, you may want to keep that "DR" thing to yourself.

Nope. Pretty serious about that. My brother in laws father had what in N. Ft Myers Florida [I've only lived in Ft. Myers so I don't know about ALL over FL.] they call a Gator Mouth Pit. He got lose got tangled with another of his Pit's, and I shit you not that dog grabbed the other by the neck, and rolled him. It reminded us of the Death roll Alligators do, and many of the BYB's say that is why they call the dog a Gator Mouth. I'm not sure if that was just how that particular dog got down. I've never fought dogs so I don't know what they go for nor how they go about it. I'm just telling you what I seen with my own two eyes. Funny as it might be I'll be the laughing stock for that one but it is what it is. Just sharing what I witnessed.

As I said I'm not claiming the Gator Mouth to be a true Bloodline. I just know from what I'm told the way that dog rolled, and his mouth shape is allegedly how they got their name.

  20. Southern Charm my dear, you have yourself a good looking bulldog, don't let anyone tell you any different. He will teach you alot as my first unpapered dog did. Be proud of him & always give him 100% of your love & he will do the same for you. I also noticed you were in need of a breaking stick, I have one Ill send you for your dog & another for you to keep on a shelf that has alot of history behind it if youd like them, as a gift from me to a young lady who seems to have a lot of fire for her dog. YFIS, the "ORIGINAL TEXICAN".
