hog hunting 2k

As we all know, our dogs have played a big role in tracking down and catching pest hogs for farmers for many years. Lets think of ol yeller and the scenes in the movie where the older boy gets in a tight spot and his dog responds and saves the day.
The new age has brought with it new gear to make things seem like a video game for the hog hunters. I was googling the other day and came across hunts in night vision.

I know most of would like to go the traditional route in catching the hogs. That being said, I also know some of you all like guns, hunting, or shooting. My question is -
which versions of pest control is better in your eyes??

I'm hoping in the next few years to add this sport of catching hogs with dogs as a hobby. Many folks run dogs where I live and I look forward to learning the ropes in this sport.

 

I know what your saying about some people don't like dogs ran across their property and these assholes need to get over it.Its just dogs doing what they were bred to.do and they can't read.I catch peoples dogs on my property all the time during deer season. And all u do is look at the tag and get the contact info and call the owners.I can understand people not liking it but these dogs have tags and instead of just shooting them on sight they should call the owners to come pick them up and then explain to them that they do not like it and keep the dogs away.This is happening where I live people that don't like it shoot the dogs on site and pile them up on top of one another and most even have tracking collars now.Just a lack of respect for the working class dogs.My family have been using dogs for deer hunting for probably 4 generations.i have done it all my life.

I'm not picky man..Black and Tans , redbones, walkers , even used beagles..Just what ever works.

 

all for the dogs but The Heli-Hunters look more fun and they exterminate more in short time lol.. 2014 everything is fast nothing like the old days

I will believe the claims of heli hunters when I see the carcass count with my own eyes. I have talked with guys that hunted behind these choppers and said with a 800 head kill count by chopper on 2k acres they only found 5 dead hogs. Hogs are also left lay when they get done. There have also been lots of reports of the choppers crossing property lines repeatedly. The choppers are a good tool but I believe numbers are skewed. Kansas game and fish has been flying in OK along the border and last year killed 160 all year. 2 dog hunters could do that good in that area in a year. With the goal of eradication and or drastic reduction of numbers I think a multiple point approach is the best method. As far as fun goes it's hard to beat the adrenaline rush when u hit a thicket planning to put hands on a 200 to 300 pound pissed off boar hog. Teeth and steel it is the only way to experience it.

Choppers, dogs, guns, spears, knife, bow, feeder, don't matter to me. Bust their butt by any means necessary. Jmo.

I know someone who paid a good chunk for some prime white tail ground. Every year he reminds the neighbors don't let their dogs run on his property or he's gonna smoke them. If it's private property and you give a warning I see no issues with it. Jmo though. I wouldn't want my dog killed but then again I wouldn't let my dog run someone else's timber.
