PVC pipe 10' long, 15 foot rope, one toy to hang on the end. Thread the rope through the pipe, tie the end in a knot so it cant pull through the tube, do the same on the other end, but leave about 3 foot of material after the knot to hang a hide or whatever you choose.

What diameter pvc pipe do you use?

1/2 is nice and flexable. i cut about a foot off and run the rope through both pieces. the shorter 12 inch or so piece detours the dog from chewing on the rope.

Hey that is something I should do. I need to do that to mine as my dogs tear the rope up all the time. Thanks. I have been hanging a peice of rope from a limber limb of a tree. But they do chew that rope up badly. so the 1/2 in pvc is stout enough to hold the dogs weight? It's smaller than I thougt it would take but no point in paying more for something not needed.

its supposed to be flexable so you can snap it a sharper turns and angles to keep it away from the dog. the better they get the better you have to be.

I get what your saying now this is for the flirt pole. Which is like a big version of those stick with a string and feathers I see at pet stores for cats. Heck I thought we were on the spring pole. Yah I got you now. I had a brain fart. Old tymers setting in on me. It is a wonder I remember to breath on my own.

Just made my first spring pole. And the dogs LOVED it. Used a 4ft section of 3/4" PVC and a 10ft rope with one of their toys at the end. Probably the cheapest toy I've ever bought, and the best. ($6)

Use a piece of cow hide on the end of the pole. The hide fires the dog up and it will work harder and longer.

To make my spring pole I bought..
-1 5ft length of chain mid guage, or longer if the tree branch is higher.
-1 3ft length of the same guage chain
    -90lb garage door spring
-3 chain link things (the chain links that screw open and shut, NO SNAP ONES)
    -1 rope toy
    =$26.00 @ Home Depot+$8.00 rope toy

    Directions:
Take the 5ft length of chain and make a circle with it then link the ends of the chain to one end of the spring (This is the part that hangs aroung the limb of the tree). Then take the 3ft length of chain and attach it to the other end with another link. After that take your toy and link it through the botom part of the 3ft length of chain (On the very end of the rope just infront of the knot so as to keep the dogs teeth safe.) Make sure the dog has plenty of rope toy to bite on. The dog won't bite the chain just the toy so you have a very sturdy spring pole that will last you a long time. Plus when your dog gets stronger you can upgrade the spring to a higher pound wieght. Make sure that the dogs feet can touch the ground when using your spring pole.

anyways nc, i would just get the pve pipe (about 1 -1 1/2 inch thich and about 8-10 ft long)

tie a bungee cord through the end of the tip, tie a rope to the other end of the bungee and the hide to that.

    Poorman's flirtpole:

Cut a ten foot hardwood sapling
Attach a few feet of rope
Use a foot square section of a dogfood bag for bait
