The long waited interview from a Corvino family member. The oldest grandson of Joe Corvino tells all. Who was bred by whom. Who took care of the dogs, who conditioned the dogs. The wins, the loses. Finally the Truth Behind the Legend. Soon in print later this year. With pictures as well.Carmen Corvino will be trying to make the OFRNR Nationals this year and judge the fun classes with Dan Norrod as judge too.

This is going to be a classic. There is a picture of Carmen Corvino, Bugsy,Dan Norrod kneeling, standing is Tony Corvino holding Carmen's daughter (his grand daughter) and Mike Norrod with his arms crossed on page 101 in a black and white picture in the World of the American Pit Bull Terrier by Richard F. Stratton.I believe those pictures were taken around 1980.

  10. I have a pic taken back in the 90's of Carmen, Dan and Robbie when he went to visit that you are welcome to if you would like.

They were all over the world. Other then US, Canada and Mexico.

  15. Sorry 179Pitman but I can't post it here because I don't have permission from those in the picture. What I am willing to do however is to send the picture to one of the folks in it or someone related to them and they can decide wether or not to post it.
It's not that I don't want to, I just feel that I should respect the peoples privacy. I hope you understand.

There is a picture on I.K. website of Dan & Carmen in 2004? in Chicago together. There are some pictures at the shows in Coldwater with all them together again in the middle 2000's. There is a bunch of of Donn'y, his sister Franchine, Mike, Dan, Dick Stratton together in OH. back in the early 1980's in the ADBA Gazette.

When I called Carmen to judge the fun classes, we talked for awhile. He wasn't happy about a lot of misinformation about his grand father and the dogs.
Carmen father Tony just passed away 1 1/2 years ago at the age of 92.
Carmen is up in age himself. I had talked to many of Joe Coirvino's kids and wife when we went to Chicago. There has been many pictures of all us together before.
I got to know some of the grand kids as well.

I think to do this justice, it shouldn't rushed. It is something we had talked about for years.

Something like that is worth taking your time and doing it right the first time.

Well, I've heard it said from a few reliable sources that Joe Corvino's children were NEVER in dogs and neither were his grandchildren!

I don't know who your source is but it isn't reliable. The information that was told back in the late 70's and early 1980's when the pictures were taken and appear in Stratton's books was at Joe Corvino's widow's house. She was right there and made clear was the truth. One of the most shocking things to told by her was the kids were the ones who conditioned the dogs. Another thing that was Interesting was the picture of Jackie Corvino, was would write letters to Mike Norrod, of Jackie of the boxing team sitting by Joe Lewis. :)Jackie's letters will also be in the interview.
