James Edwards passed away

    The great James Edwards has passed away. A true legend just like his most famous dog Grand Champion Molly Bee


    James Irvin Edwards

    James Irvin Edwards, 77, passed away Friday, Oct. 7, 2011. He was the son of the late George R. Edwards and Effie Taylor Edwards. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Edwards; brother, Grady Edwards; sisters, Eva Stancil and Aldonia Kelly.
    He is survived by his wife, Helen W. Edwards, of the home; daughter, Donna Mercer and husband, Greg, of Elm City; son, Eddie Irvin Edwards and wife, Crystal, of Carthage; brothers, Lonnie Edwards of Halifax, Leroy Edwards and wife, Geraldine, and Pete Edwards and wife, Sandra, all of Wilson, Bill Edwards and wife, Betty, of Lucama; and two step-grandchildren.
    James was a loving husband to Helen for 55 years and also was a devoted father to his children. He worked for the City of Wilson for 38 years. He retired as distribution superintendent of the electric department. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He also was an avid lover of horses.
    Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 in the Chapel of Thomas-Yelverton Funeral Home, with visitation following the service. The Rev. Rex Edwards will officiate. A graveside committal service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Park.
    Arrangements entrusted to Thomas-Yelverton at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2704 Nash St. N., Wilson, NC 27896. Online condolences may be directed to Thomas-Yelverton at Evergreen Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations.
