Just had one puppy???

My dog had pups this evening,everything went pretty normal except there is just one.Took her to the vet,he checked her out and said that's it.I've had a Boston Terrier have only 2 before but I just thought 1 was a little strange.Anybody else ever had a one puppy litter before?It was her first litter,but I still thought it was strange.

 

Nope...i've had a 16 pup litter though! :eek:

 

That's a big litter,wished I'd had half that many.The one I did have is a cute little pup though.Oh,well.Better luck next time.

a mate of mine had a bitch once, in one litter she had just the one pup. he bred her a number of times to different males over the years and the most she ever had in a litter was three.

me on the other hand have been blessed lol.. with litters over ten and up to fifteen.

Helena's mom had 4 pups in her first litter Helena the only female and the runt. Awww...

I've heard of dogs only having one puppy. And it's probably just because it was her first pregnancy.

My old bitch (who is almost 10) had 2 pups in her last litter. She blessed us with 1 male, and 1 female..lol This was only the 3rd litter she had with the other litters being 7, and 8. I think sometimes it just happens like that.. Sometimes it depends on age, envirnoment, weather..alll sorts of things..lol

never had a bitch have one pup, but years ago I had a personal protection trained Rott who I studded out once to an impressively decorated working bitch, and she only had one pup.Born big,stayed big and is still big today lol.

 

A friend of mine bred to Lawtown's Chucky Dukes when he was around 12 or 13 yrs old..He dropped his female off to me about a week out, so I could whelp the litter for him, but her "litter" only consisted of one pup..

I bred two of my own dogs together (only got one tie) and my female only whelped one pup..

Dropped a 6yr old female off at a friends to be bred to his stud (whom produced 2 larger litters only a few months earlier), picked her up a few weeks later, and she only whelped 2 pups, even though she whelped 6 her last litter..

Stranger things have happened I suppose..

 

My 6month old bitche in her litter was only 4 females.:o

She could have been bred toward the end of her heat cycle. That can produce fewer pup like 1 or 2. Or maybe she was practicing for her next breeding! lol

i'd rather have a small litter, makes the pups, or pup healthier, you don't have to worry about what am i going to do with all these danged puppies, and less drain on the female, and that is one of my main concerns..

 

The little pup turned out kind of a tan color with a little black on his face.[His grandpa was buckskin]She was bred only once and it was toward the end of her cycle so that was probaly it.I had a little problem hooking up with the guy with the stud so I bred her one time hoping to have some nice pups.I figured on more than one though.Didn't really pan out like I had hoped.
