  2. I know this thread is 6 years old, but I love the kennel set-up. I don't have any chewers or escape artist, so it will work for me.

  3. I've not read the whole thread yet, but there are some fantastic pics and ideas floating around

What do you all use for flooring in kennels? Looks like the OP is using gravel. Anyone use cedar chips or straw or anything like that?

The dirt I put it on lol. I line the inside perimeter with 16"x16" paver blocks to prevent digging.

I had an escape artist and built what I thought was a bulletproof Kennel. Instead of the 2 by 4 in the original post...and that is a real nice looking kennel, I used heavy duty wire and wrapped the heck out of the bottom of the chain link fence to secure it and I also bolted the whole set up into the concrete. She ripped all the wire out and got on my male who was on a tie out and he nearly ended her.

That did not deter her one bit. She would attack any kennel including breaking her teeth off eating the wiring no matter how thick she was going to get out. She broke several teeth and this did not deter her one bit. Funny thing is she would (I soon learned to always only have 1 dog outside, and 1 in the house, I had 2 dogs) escape anything and then go out and sit in front of the garage. Then the HOA would send me a later, LOL. My male never tried very hard to escape. I finally built a tie out set up that contained her, but she was also a mostly indoor dog.

Some dogs are just completely nuts and will harm themselves to no end trying to get out. IMO...and my experience is limited, it is usually the product of tight inbreeding, my female was a father daughter breeding.

  13. I had a tightly bred male and holy moly he was a serious chewer and digger nonstop
