OK Don't know unless you ask! China weighs 55 lbs and the sire weighs 50 lbs, but that's without conditioning. I hope to stat working China out this week some. She has had a time with Mastitus and everything. Just now starting to feel like herself again. Oh, I like Slim also. Good luck with them!

Don't both sides have to have the gene for black and tans? I'm no color expert but I'm just curious. I've never once seen a Chinaman dog as a black and tan and I pretty much have been dealing with this line exclusively for quite a few years. Any color experts on here can explain how you get a black and tan out on a breeding like this? Teach me something :D LOL.

Actually both parents can carry the gene reccessively and if they are bred together the potential is there. The chances arent that great the further back the gene is but its there...like any reccessive gene.

Izod carries the gene (as he has produced this color before with a different bitch that had to carry it too). All the non black and tan puppies have the gene and potential to throw black and tans if bred to another black and tan or a carrier.

Quote from Wildside Kennels article on tan points, "A dog needs to inherit two copies of the tan-point gene to be a black & tan. If a pup inherits one copy of the tan-point gene and one copy of the dominant yellow gene, which causes a red or buckskin coloration, then the dog will be red or buckskin, not black and tan. If the dog inherits one copy of the tan-point gene and one of the dominant black gene, the result will be a solid black dog. Because of the recessive nature of the tan-point gene, it can actually remain hidden in the gene pool for many generations without expressing itself."

    Hope this helps.....

  13. From what i have gathered... the black and tan gene comes off of GR CH BEACH BOY BILLY'S SPIKEY (5XW) POR Izod has thrown black and tans with Medusa twice ( this being the repeat breeding ) and a bitch who was dbl bred off Spikey ...

I love Blade and Katie!! But Vann'a looks good too. I love a nice dark red with a dark mask. Good Luck with your pups and congratulations on a beautiful litter.

Both the sire and the dam must carry the gene forthe B&T to come thru in any breeding, I have looked thru the ped for the sire and am not finding anything that carries that gene until you get all they way back past Fitzwalter's Goldie. I am not sure how you are producing this color, but it does not seem to be gentically possible. It would have to throw back over 12 generations. I would be checking those peds and breedings that produced the sire very closely. I might not be as suprised if it threw one in one or even two litters, but to consistently throw multiples in more than one litter would be a red flag to me, this is why DNA testing is a good idea. I have dogs that carry the gene directly from their parents that have not thrown B&T to date.

  16. so what are u saying...there NOT full blooded LMFAO ...... OR IZOD aint full blooded LOLOLOL

like i said the black and tan comes off spikey... alot of the colors aint shown on peds online... and some are black with tan markings

All those pups look great! so do Chinasmom, don't forget that the larger the litter the smaller the pups tend to be, how else could they all fit??? or all get nourished? they look good and that does not mean that they will not be a good size when they are older.

  18. ty RIPTORA .... that is true somewhat :p
medusa and izod was bred b4 and had only 7 pups and they were small also....i am very very VERY happy with this litter .... and very happy with my picks.... the parents are conditioned at 33 and 38 lb and fat ( chained ) at 40 and 45..... well a dog will only be what u want it to be ...anyway...

Nobody said they weren't pure, I did say that I find it very unlikely that with the ped of the sire that there is anyway that it will produce multiple b&t in multiple litters. It would have to come from over 12 gens back, I have done the research and this is a topic I am quite well versed on. The primary lines that this coloration shows up in are the following: Sorrells, Hammonds, and some Wildside. This being said, the coloration shows up in those more than others due to the fact that the gene for this trait is much closer to the current dogs being bred. If it is so heavy (which it isn't) in Spikey, then why are others off of him not producing this color on a regular basis. :)

P.S. I never said it was impossible, just highly unlikely. Don't know where you got that I was saying they aren't full blooded
