Looking for dogs in mo/ks

Discussion in 'Introductions' started by Rabernathy, Feb 17, 2022.

  1. Hello- our old family dog passed last summer and I've started looking around for a kennel or breeder recently- as t turns out I guess it's not easy to find traditional apbts these days. I've always been a fan of the old bloodline traditional dogs, small and agile, athletic, great with kids, and basically superior to all other dogs at everything from catching a frisbee to squirrel or hog hunting. I really don't need to get nerdy about bloodlines or whatever, just looking for a good family and hunting dog that conforms with the classic apbt physically and in temperament. All i can seem to find are peopl selling those ridiculous bully dogs. If anyone could refer me to someone or a kennel with current or upcoming pups around this area I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

    Id highly recommend https://aheartofstonekennel.com/
My pup is only 6 months old and chasing bobcats away. Although not proven, yet, I do believe hes got great hunting ability.
Price was reasonable, and she has one that's 1.5 yr right now thats 40lb. So some are on the smaller side like you mentioned.
Mine though is about 50lb's already, with Whitey x Anhiem. So it does depend on which breeding you pick.

Price is subjective. I'd be hard pressed to spend that kind of money(according to the site) for those dogs. For similar price you could get 2 better bred pups(again subjective like the price) from the right source or even a prospect instead of a pup. There's pups off a doy for $200 more. I'd much rather put my money there than save the $200.
Again that's all preferences. Glad you're happy with you animal from them and you offered up an option for the op.

Personally I'd look at any of the known kennels who sell to the public and start chatting them up. Worst that can happen is you don't buy their pups or they have nothing available. Best case is you build a relationship and don't get whacked over the head for $1800 for those dogs in the link.

Well the 1.5 yr old one was more than i paid for mine. Get them as a pup and its a little cheaper and you get the time to train them yourself.
As for the price, being hard pressed, well that would depend on how much you'd want a game dog. Op said he had a old family dog, which is why i posted AHOS.
Usually old family dogs cost more from what ive seen.

The name on the available dog alone "southern sureƱo" to me shows lack of intelligence of the breeder. Literally the dogs name is southern southern...

But again to each their own. The op said his old family pet died not he wanted ofrn dogs. He even said he wouldn't nerd out about bloodlines just wanted another family pet.

1800 for those pups(what they say pups are going for) is incredibly outrageous. Those dogs are also far from the traditional apbt also but that's a whole other can of worms.
