    Fucking disgusting.

The day will come when people have had enough, for blacks folks, is long over due.

Protect and serve has been replaced with incarcerate and embezzling.

Don't know what the victim was accused of, but there is little that justifies such cruel treatment. Instead of cultivating respect, the police sow fear among the population.

It don't matter what he did. Cops are not judge, jury and executioner. Their job is to arrest. Nothing that man did could justify kneeling on his neck for 8 minutes, while, handcuffed and 2 other officers holding his arms and legs not show in the cellphone video.

It is a sad series of events. I doubt justice will be served. Just pessimistic that way.

As a people we react to the shock value and then we move on. Next week this will be old news and soon after that only the people directly involved will even remember Mr. Floyd's name, much less the cops involved, most will struggle to remember what city.

This past weekend 49 people were shot in Chicago, 10 fatally, and this is no longer news, unless you are one, directly involved or two, using Yahoo to keep score.

    Sad state of affairs.

I think I get the outrage. (Being a white guy from a rural area in the south I am sure I can't totally understand being a black guy in America).

I am in no way trying to de-value the life of another nor am I trying to deflect from the actual issue of the police basically killing a begging and subdued perpetrator.

This is more for my understanding than anything and by no means is it intended to disrespect or inflame.

But....when a black individual is killed by a white police officer the outrage turns to riots and looting and burning down buildings but in Chicago black people are killing other black people in droves as it has pretty much become accepted. I do not understand.

In Minneapolis it was Autozone, in either Ferguson or Baltimore it was Advance Auto Parts.

Not to be a shit head, but at what point does breaking windows, stealing car batteries, and committing arson do anything to help the situation?

Again, I do not understand. I will try but I doubt I will get it.

The outrage comes from systematic discrimination by local governments towards African-Americans and the lack of protection and enforcement of laws by the federal government.

That is an accurate definition but why do black people loot and burn down there own neighborhoods.

To be sure no white police officer was in the Autozone as merchandise was being removed and the building set afire.

If the systematic discrimination is by local government and lack of protection then why not loot the police station and set that building on fire?

I get the outrage and by all means it is warranted but I struggle with the response, especially when the target has absolutely nothing to do with the issue at hand.

I think that’s a very complicated question with very complicated answers that can’t really be answered on a message board. I can recommend some books if you want just dm me.

I never understood it either. Other than good old fashioned opportunity I can't see a logical reason either. It makes no sense to damage ones own commity in retaliation.

Attacking the police station, now that I can see and understand but ones own community they live in is pointless other than for self indulgence.

Thankfully the Mayor has said she wants that man arrested and charged. Like what was already stated though, he'll probably only do a short stint unfortunately. It's a hate crime and should be prosecuted as a capital murder case. Death penalty should definitely be on the table for this one but we all know it won't be and that cop will be out before the family finished grieving.

Just because you live in a place is it yours? Especially if you or nobody you know owns any of the businesses?

Why do people loot and burn to express outrage? Take a group of people that have suffered little stings of racism during the course of living life. I am not talking about acts like Minnesota or Fergurson, but the little things you just take in stride and move on about your business. This stuff builds up over time. You tell yourself fuck 'em, yet it still there brewing under the surface. Then you have an act by the people who are supposed to protect and serve that basically signals your life ain't worth shit. If it happened only once then maybe you can give the benefit of the doubt, but it happens over and over. Not only that you repeatedly see the cops get off and serve no time. It is just an example of fuel meeting fire. Both fire and rage have a hard time thinking clearly. They just burn until they burn themselves out. The real question is why do white people burn shit when their favorite team wins the championship? It is an emotional act. They are caught in the moment. We all know emotion and reason usually don't coexist. Add in a crowd and reason goes right out the door. Now why do they riot in their own neighborhood. If they went to loot/burn the police station, downtown business district or the rich neighborhoods they will be lucky if they are only arrested and not killed. I mean come on, there are neighborhoods a black man can hardly drive in without being stopped and checked out. Then once you come back clean they follow you to your destination to make sure you are not up to no good (speaking from experience). I am not talking 1960's. I'm talking 2020. I get that it is hard for somebody on the outside looking in. It is hard to wrap your head around it especially if you are the type that doesn't pay attention to a person's race when dealing with them.
