Yesterday afternoon my pit...star and my other pit mixed dog got out of the backyard....( Not unsual) Well anywho something went down and my neighbor threw water on them, kicked the bucket at them and then shot my dog. You would think once would have been enough, well after that shot Star ran into a bush, he followed her and shot her two more times. You give me your opinion that was execution style or what? She didn't bite anybody, she was just barking because they was causing a distraction to them both...Normal dog reactions. I mena she didn't even try to bite him after he threw the water and kicked the bucket at them. I need someone out there to give me names of some people who can give me good advice. Thank GOD and lucky her, she's alive, but that type of cruelty can not go unpunished.

What Did She Get Shot With? Took 3 Hits And Keeps On Tickin. Should Change Her Name To "timex". J/j

Honestly Sounds Like Your Neighbor Got Serious Problems. Imo If I Were In YOUR Shoes My Neighbor Would Be The One Hiding In The Bushes!

my dogs would NEVER, and i mean NEVER get out of the backyard, let alone "not unusally" like you said which means they have gotten out a few tiems before.

im sorry your dog got shot but it was your fault. learn from it and learn how to properly secure your dogs.

Who would of thought petbull owners wouldnt contain their dogs properly and would cause us grief? Unfortunately, its petbull owners who let their dogs run the streets and cause headlines...and now your dog had to die because you dont understand the breed.

    RIP pooch.

If your dogs getting out is not unusual, then you might want to try a different containment method. Keep them secured in your yard and situations like this won't happen again.

Take good care of that dog. I hope it recovers well.

pretty much, it is up to you to keep your dogs safe, you said this is not the first time this has happened that right there could get your dogs taken from you in some places, please keep your dogs properly contained it makes us all look bad when these dogs are out running the streets i hope your star will be ok but knowone is to balme but yourself, if you are looking for the police to do something well, i don't know what to say but good luck with that

I am so sorry your pup was injured and hope she recovers well. There is no justification in my mind for repeated firing on a retreating animal, this individual was out of line, however you must assume your responsibility in it as well. May God help your pup to recover and you learn from this. You cannot trust people to be rationale, especially when it come to loose Pit Bulls, folks will become irrational and end up injuring your dog. I am coming off an incident where my dogs collar failed while I was walking her and the individual assaulted me and my dog, and three months later is on a crusade to have both my dogs destroyed. My point being you cannot control other people, only yourself and you have the power to keep your dogs safe and away from crazies....so just do it, and speedy recovery to your dog.

Its your fault the dog was in that situation. It is the same as someone hitting a dog running the streets in their car.

you sound just as low as the person that did the shooting!![/QUOTE]

and you sound like an individual that would rather rationalize a situation and blame everyone else but yourself. you are probably like that in many areas of your life, blaming others for your downfall and misfortune, just as you have here today. i feel no compassion towards someone who cannot at least be accountable for thier situations.

once again, it is your fault, learn from it.

bammoeller: You did say that its not unusual for ur dogs to get out... I agree with gametest, pits should never be out of the yard w/ out leash. our pits got out once and luckily one of the nicer neighbors held on to both of them and brought them back to us unharmed. we were very fortunate nothing bad happened.. there are too many possibilities- Get hit by a car? get shot by ur crazy neighbor? etc.. I would move also if I were you. That some nutty neighbors u got.

bammoeller do you think he arranged your dog to get out to hurt them and shoot them. If thats the case then that hella messed up but if the just got out then take this as a lesson, it happens but learn from it. GOD BLESS and take care of you dog.

Bamm..... I feel for you. My brother's dog was shot 1/8/06 by a 'wonderful' neighbor too. His neighbor shot her point blank with a shotgun. He blew a 5" hole in her chest, claimed she was vicious but was only inches away from her when he killed her.

I was outraged & absolutely pissed off. This dog was a wonderful dog & she did not deserve what she got. I wanted someone to tell me I had every right to feel the way I was feeling. I came to this board assuming I would have several pitbull owners standing behind me via the internet screaming, just like I was doing, due to the injustice of this horrible act. I wanted compassion. Instead, I was told the same thing you were told......my brother was the blame. I was told MY brother was one of the statistics as to why these dogs are making national news. I was told having one less 'petbull' was not such a bad thing.

On a positive side, there were just a few replies expressing their sympathy & compassion.

I am so sorry for what happened to your dog. I absolutely know what you are going through.

Get this: My brother got a summons for harboring a vicious animal. He had to appear in court 2/20/06.... (The dog is now dead). This summons was supposedly written on 9/15/05. If this summons was written in Sept., why in the world did it take our wonderful sheriff's dept 5 months to serve my brother with this summons? IF our Sheriff's dept did their job and got this summons to my brother within a reasonable amount of time, maybe his dog would still be alive.
    Still pissed off!!
