As most know, I'm expecting a new little arrival in May. (By the way, I found out Wednesday that it's a boy! :D )

Anyways, I'm entering Savage in the Cajun Country ADBA show in March. However, I'll be 7 months along by then and look like I'm smuggling a gigantic watermelon to the show I'm sure.

    So my question is this:

Should I try and show him myself? Or let someone else handle him?

Don't get me wrong as I deal with all the dogs myself as my hubby doesn't lift a finger (they're not his dogs he tells me). However, although Savage is a somewhat small dog, he's full of fire.

    All opinions are welcome. :)

just for safety's sake i would have someone else show him. U never know if he freaks out when ur not paying attention he could knock u down or something, JMO

Should be you imo, that would be a very positive image for the breed.

"An about-to-be mom handling his american pit bull terrier showing his loyalty and perfect family love pet".

However, have somebody with you on there taking care of both, just incase :)

Yeah, some body that knows what they are doing,or even better, how about a person that's wants to learn..to teach how to hold the leash and the dogs correct stance and etc....P.B. that's a good one too.

Thanks for the opinions. I know I'll have some help if need be from some other club members.

Also, LOL at the "stance" issue. Savage doesn't understand the meaning of "stand still." Let's just say that that's our target for the next 2 months! :D

    Mia,

If you feel comfortable handling then do it. If not, don't. Though it would be neat to see a pregnant lady handling her APBT, you have to look out for #'s 1 AND 2! ;) I know this isnt your 1st rodeo so Im sure you will do whats good for the both of you. Congrats BTW!!

you remind me of my friend :D . She was like 7/8 months and she is a very small girl in height, but she was HUGE. She handled her female to a first place than, only the run around the ring was a little hard ;)

I personally would have someone else do it. All too often someone else will let there dog get too close to yours, though no fault of your own. Accidents do happen, compliments of the carelessness of others. What then? With these dogs, I prefer a better safe than sorry approach.

She's pregnant, not crippled. I've seen women work all the way up until the day before they had the baby. She will be fine. Mia knows what she can and can't handle. There are alot of mixed opinions on this one. At the end of the day its all up to MrsPigHunta. :)

    LOL mister!

And thanks everyone for y'alls input. I will definitely be thinking things over and will most probably decide closer to the day.

Also, he won't be in the puppy classes as he'll be 13 months old. So I've got the next 2 months to bring him into shape.......God help me. :D Although I will admit I'm not as concerned about him being conditioned as I am just getting him the experience. Heck, this dog doesn't understand the meaning of "stand still."

As long as you feel up to do, then do it. Pregos or not, if you are in the ring you are going to be watchful of the other dogs, etc. I also think it would be a good image for the dogs. But only if you feel up to it at that time.

couldnt get a better pic for the breed than a pregnant woman handling an apbt at a show. try to land that one in the paper!
