im going to keep it short and sweet......HELL NO....you take something great.. breed it with something sad ..and think your going to get something better than what you started with...sounds like the creation of a blue or purple dog...

  3. well, im not interested in it...but ya never know...it could be the next generation of working dogs. im sure some people doubted taking a bulldog to a small terrier breed to "better" the line....and look what we got

well a bull dog has power and muscle tone and a great deal of jaw power..and a terrier has speed, prey drive, and gameness..leading all to a great gamedog...if you bred an akita to a terrier you may have something there..and for pikita inu to be a better breed than a pit bull..is not forseeable:rolleyes: .as far as i know pit with any thing is a bandog or a mutt...but that is just my opinion:eek:

It's amazing the money these people will make off these dogs. Well.... are making look at the goldendoodle. They will probaly have prices like $1200 and $1500 for the pups and their just mutts. I pretty sure if you go to the humane society or even your local pound you can find these mixes at discount prices.

Since fighting is illegal....it doesnt much matter. To me, its just another mutt people are exploiting and trying to pass off as rare for some extra $$....just look at Gotti and other bandogs being called "pits" :D

the akitas were hard shkers and fought all the way back to the date of the samuri and are very good bear hunters when added pit bull i think that would totolly comlete the dogs and there are not many ppl dedicated to this act but there is a few and they do not go for 1000 but yet could become this like so many breeds anyways they are not hairy they are smoth coated litlle longer hair than a apbt kinda like a roots hair as far as gameness they have some good ones and they have been matched into apbts looking like one any ways except there akita looking face and bear looking i think they will bve great hunters for sure and would maybe consider 1 for hog doging their average weight is 55-75 so they are catch weight i think maybe add some platerdale terrier and it would complete these for real

  14. Terrible idea. Most types of dogs designed for fighting have short coats. Long coats = overheating in warm climates. A dog like the designer dog you are mentioning wouldn't be able jog 2 miles on an 80+ degree day.

I had a cousin who had an akita/pit mix female. They called her Kokomo. She was a little leggy, and had a "pit looking" face. She didn't have short hair, but she didn't have that fuzzy long hair either, and she shed like crazy. She weighed between 65-70 pounds and was brindle in color, so on looks alone she was scary. From a very young age, Kokomo became highly dog aggressive and high-strung. She would attack every animal that came near her. Fortunately for her, she never came across an APBT. As long as the dog was smaller than her (frou-frou dogs) she was very intimidating and would attack. Kokomo's personality was more like the akita. Very aloof, very loyal, and very much the alpha dog. She was never taught "the chain of command" and walked all over my cousin. My cousin babied her every chance she got, so needless to say, Kokomo was a very spoiled, tempermental dog who had the capabilities of doing harm to my cousin or anyone else who threatened her position as alpha dog.

In my opinion, the akita is probably the worse dog you could ever cross with an APBT (aside from the chi;) ). If this cross is being made, I recommend the light-hearted to stay away from it. You can bet your life, that they will need a strong hand and someone who is very knowledgable with dominant breeds. Also, according to Mr. Stratton, the akita was tried several times against various APBTs and never once came out on top. Mixing them would only create another dog who has just a little bit more of a chance with a true APBT, but not one who can actually hang with him all the way.

i wll also say this i owned akitas as a little kid and they were prety bad ass they would kill most bulldogs in short time they were cross breed into the tosa inu along time ago probly crossed into the pit bull they are big and if a apbt gets enuff time they will win but these guys are very strong iseen with my own eye!as for stratton the akita were probly not the real or staraton alone is fulll of it and i think you are refering to the part were the akita jumped in the truck right away no way these dogs will mix it up like i said the samarai used these guys and they were there pride possesion so theres your sign lol

Let me throw the sign right back at ya buddy.... Just because a dog is big doesn't mean he is better; just because the samurai owned akitas doesn't make them better. Hell the fucking emporers owned shit dogs like the 'original' japanese chin. Does that mean he can kick my bulldog's ass? I think not. Just because a certain type of person owned this dog, doesn't mean anything. As far as breeding them into Tosa's, that happened well before the 20th century. If you are gonna use that excuse, you may as well say that the APBT is really a mastiff because they were used in his creation. Since we all know that this isn't the case, try again.

Do you think Stratton would write about a dog and label it as a certain breed with out knowing exactly what it was? Why would he just label a dog as an akita, especially since they were fairly 'rare' (meaning not well known) in this country at that time. As far as him being full of shit, I guess you or I will never really know unless we can go back into that time and see for ourselves-since that won't happen, I'm just gonna go with YOU being full of shit.

I am not doubting the strength of the akita (as I have also seen with my own eyes how strong they are) but to say they can kill a pit in a real match is just ridiculous. Your akitas killing a few curs is not evidence to this fact either, so don't even try that shit.

The bottom line is this~No dog of any breed could or can ever keep up with a true blue game dog. The game dog would win on heart alone!
