So at about 6:30 am, I went out the front door to go get my newspaper. And boy what a shock I got! Tied up to our lone, rinky dink tree thing in the front yard, was a dog......a blue fawn male 'pit bull' to be exact.

The poor thing was sooo excited to see me and was/is a hyperactive ball of energy. I have no idea what time of night he was dumped as not only did I not hear anything, I don't recall hearing the dogs act up other than an occasional growl here & there, which is normal in my house (they are kenneled side-by-side at night).

So I had to leave him where he was to go get all the dogs out on the chains, and I opened the garage door and brought the dog in there to check him out and whatnot. Like I mentioned, he's a blue fawn male, complete with all his male parts, and weighs approx. 55 lbs. He's not a low-slung stocky dog, but actually pretty lean. He's got hair loss completely around the neckline as if sometime recently he had a collor on that was extremely too tight. But other than that, he looks to be in good shape and has a nice, shiny coat.

By that time, I heard Cole calling "Doggy!" from his bed so I knew he was awake and I had to go take care of him. I got a bowl filled with a cup of kibble and put it into a kennel for the dog and he just went right on in and began eating. And there he remains until I get off of work.

From what I could assess from a mere 45 min. with him, he's a very sweet dog and has lots of energy to burn. I haven't checked his teeth as probing open the mouth of a dog I do not know isn't really on my "to do" list, but I'm going to take him into the clinic and neuter him on Wednesday, so I'll check him out completely then and try to determine an age. But going by a guess, I wouldn't say he's older than 2 or younger than 1.

So now what? Well, I've got to get this dog into a foster home where he can be temperament tested and have some time to find out all his pros and cons. With just weeks left to go until baby Carson arrives, I don't feel I have the time nor the energy to deal with this. <<sigh>>

I'm resigning work a week earlier than planned so I can work with him some, especially if he's still at my house, but I really don't know what I'm going to do at this point. Have I mentioned how much I despise some human beings? [IMG]

EDIT: I will get some pics this afternoon and get them posted as soon as possible. [IMG]

I guess people haven't gotten the hint that I don't like blue or white dogs though, yet I seem to end up with several of them.

  4. LOL, don't you know you are a real life Snow White (blonde version)? In a little while you will be getting unwanted horses, cows, goats, etc. Everyone around you knows how sweet you are to dogs. You are a princess among dogs. :o

Accept and Bless.....you have a kind soul for animals and you are a blessing to them as well. You could have just have taken him to the shelter or something, instead you accepted this dog and all that goes with him and for that you will be blessed.....(Accept and Bless).

    Thanks guys. :)

But another issue is I have an eye on a breeding happening the second half of the year, and I really want to reserve my space for that dog. Not to mention there's a possibility of bringing in another non-APBT dog late this year or early next year.

I will do my best by this dog, but he's just going to be a rescue. He's going to need a real forever home. ;)
