This is the first time that I have ever seen this. I have had several pups out of game lines that have never ever tucked their tail between their legs when I got em day 1 and let em play with my bulldogge they were raring to play. I just got a new puppy that showed good attitude at the breeders but when I got him home and out to play with my brothers older ambull, he tucked his tail between his legs and looked for somewhere to hide. Does that mean that he is a cur? Or can he still turn out. It could be he is getting used to his new surroundings yet I have never seen this from any of my dogs.

He's a pup. Let him be a pup. He can still turn out. Don't expect too much too fast, or push him further than he needs to go. Be patient let him mature and then you'll be able to make a better assessment, pups are a crapshoot.

no shit brother let that dog be a pup...some dogs are shy as puppy dont let that affect how you think he will turn out...if he dont like playing with other dogs and gets scared keep him sperated... once hes of age take him hogg hunting.. it doent matter what they "act" like as puppies it only matters that they perform to your liking as an adult...if you dont feel like wasting your timee on him.. amd if hes off decent bulldogs send his shy ass my way and ill feed and give him a nice chain spot... his ass will be beat bopping and humming bob marley tunes by the end of the week... hell ill even tell you what kind of hunter he is in a couple years, and let you breed to him if he turns out lol...
bur for real let a pup be a pup and just try to get him to aadulthood as hapily and confident as possible, and hopefuly if your lucky hell be all the bulldog u ever wanted.

I hear you bro. I will see how he turns out. I was just asking because it is the first time I have come across a dog shy game pup. I have come across pups that were skittish towards people but never around other dogs. Thanks for the encouragement.

Come on now. Seriously. Does that mean that he is a cur? Yes, it does. Now send him to me. I'll pay the shipping and save you the trouble of having to cull him yourself. It's sad when that happens man; having a pup cur out on the very first day. Man, that's gone to be some punk-ass pup to cur and hide like that in the face of being shipped, traveling, over-handled, stressed to hell, new home, new sounds, new people,-especially new people dumb enough to put the pup they just got home "out to play" with a bigger, older, tougher, bully breed dog-instead of making sure he's hydrated and putting him someplace quiet to catch his breath. So, please send that box-jumper in the making to me ASAP and let me save you, bud.

Nothing wrong with a 5 month old tucking his tail either.

I wouldn't worry about nothing. The pup is very far from being completely mature. Patience is what seperates the pros from the amatuers!

A lot of the Mayday pups I've seen are like this when young. It takes them a while to have confidence especially when moved away from the litter. I wouldn't worry too much so soon.

thats exactly how my female reacted. whenever she got around dogs she was real nervous and submissive. when she started to hit 11 monts to a year and 4 months she changed . she became way more confident... marking territory whenever she could always trying to scrap it out withh her siblings. horses would walk by amd she would want a pieceof themeven, trying to jump the fence to get after em. as a puppy you thought she would had never turned out like this. she was a shy , non confident pup
