O.Stevens CHAMPION HOMER ROM by Ozzie Stevens

The way I've heard the story was that Angus got injured by Ruby, he never ran away. Also I believe that Stepp wanted to match into Jeep was because of the loss of Glover. I wouldn't call it revenge, it is more of a rivalry if anythign since both camps got one on each other. Angus Jeep was going to be the tie breaker.

 

I agree with you on this one sampson. I don't own anything down from Angus either. However, if you were to analyze the situation, then you can see certain things don't add up. The story goes Angus ran into Ruby twice. Also Stepp tried to hook into Jeep twice, both times with high forfeit. The account also never mentioned which incident that Angus quit to, it just mentioned that Angus ran into Ruby twice. If Angus quit to Ruby the first time they encountered each other, why would Stepp hook him in again after he paid the forfeit? If it was the second time then why didn't Angus quit the first time? It mentioned that Stepp needed to get there and seperate Angus from Ruby. Both times Angus got hurt by Ruby and both times Stepp needed to seperate the two. This is how the story goes. Now here are the possible logical scenarios that I've been able to conceive:

a) The first encounter between Angus and Ruby happened, thus he was forced to pay the forgeit, but he believed Angus could beat Jeep and thus got him hooked again. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again and he needed to get a replacement.

b) The first encounter happened and he was forced to pay the forgeit. He then got Angus hooked again, but then began to think "what if Jeep is better than Angus?" Stepp and JC are 1 and 1, with JC defeating Stepp's Black Glover dog and Stepp defeating JC's Otis. The deciding match would be the tie breaker and if Angus lost, then that would be a big blow to his ego. However, if he were to get another dog, he'd not pay the forgeit and perhaps even win against Jeep. Even if the other dog loses, it was not his dog so the blow would not be as big towards his ego.

These two are the only logical ones. I believe it would be B because twice Angus ran into Ruby. It is possible since coincidences happen, but it would be pretty improbable that the same thing happened twice since both times he ran straight to Ruby and both times Ruby wrecked him in the chest. I believe it to be conclusion B since A is not as probable due to the encounter happening twice, which is highly unlikely. Coincidences do happen, hell I picked up a $50 dollar bill once in class. The $50 was on the seat I was going to take. However, what are the chances I will pick up a $50 again in the same room and on the same seat?

 

Instead of trying logical conclusions call people who were there back then.. Or ask Oz why he let them use Homer why they didn't use Angus? Why wasn't Angus being bred after that or taken back out?

 

Ozzie wasn't on the yard when that happened now was he? The only one that really truly knows is Stepp

 

Who said Stepp was the one who was on the yard when the accident occured? Is that what the story says? Lol I have no more to debate about this but the reason Stepp kept Homer with him was because he didnt want nothing to happen to him like it did with Angus because Angus wasn't with him.. Just so you guys know..

 

Rock you are correct Ozzie let them use homer beacuse he was paid alot of money by Steep and his crew plane and simple . Was there and did see them go !!!!!!!!!!!!

 

yeah i have to agree with you redrumdog about homer and greenwoods oakie they had that deep,deep intensity in their eye balls for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love all of oscar stephany's dogs past.present and hopefully well into the future

 

Hey Old Time Dogman, did you see any of homer's victories? In your opinion, what would the outcome have been if they went at homer's pit weight, and both were healthy? It is common knowledge that homer was beat before he even got there that night because of Billy not knowing what he was doing. One of my favorite quotes is when Oscar told me that if homer would have been done correctly he would have bitten jeep in half. Gotta love him.

Either the match was for 10k or the forfeit was 10k according to the man himself. Cadibuck, there sure are, good observation you are a genius.

 

Ben I was told 20 k was the purse, That was a shit load back then, I herd once of one for 112K , And thats why these dogs get in these kinds of things big money, If homers would have been put up for 5oo things would have been diff, I know just how ozzie felt that night, I had the same thing happen to me maney years ago, and the same reason we lost is the same reason Ozzie lost. You think some one else will treat your dog as well as you. It dont work like that, Take this story with you and learn from it. Hopefully no one will let it happen to them. The fastest way to loose a friend is to let him work your dogs. You want to be a fast dog man you need to work you own dogs. NO one I meen NO one will want to win more than your dog and your self.

The forfeit was 10 k.I would have loved to see what Homer would have produced if he was around till he was around 10 years old.He produced well for just a short time.

Ozzie should have listen to his family. Homer was a 1 in a life time dog.

I let a friend us 1 of my dog once. Since I got him back he pisses blood once in a while. Talked to dude once since getting him back. An that was only to ask what did he give him
