I've seen a lot of pics of pitbulls hanging from ropes. I've also seen a lot of pitbulls with missing and broken off teeth and injuries due to this. Now i know everyone has their own opinion about springpoles and how you have to be very careful, yet others think its okay to let their dogs hang and swing in the air and risk injuries and broken teeth..How does everyone feel on this topic? I feel we should keep our dogs back feet on the ground and not risk injury. Heres a pic of my girl reaching for the springpole...

IF THAT'S THE CASE IT WOULD BE MORE EXRECISE FOR THEM TO BE WORKING THE ROPE WITH THEIR FEET ON THE FLOOR RATHER THATN HANGING. BTW THIS IS ACTUAL FACT NOT OPINION BASED.

my springpoles are just high enough for the dogs to have to jump for it but, most of my dogs can pull it down enough to where there back feet are on the ground and they just pull at it.. In my opinon though hanging or not it isn't going to hurt your " bulldog "and if you are using a pelt (for homeade poles) I have used them on all my dogs and never lost a tooth yet. Good luck this seems to be a touchy subject

i let my dog hang sometimes, he jumps up high to grab the cloth, and his feet may be off the ground, I get what your saying but most of us watch our dogs carefully, however, its none of our business how a owner lets their dog play on a spring pole

Your right if you ask me. For what I know that when hanging their is a possibility that they can hurt their back. But everybody has his own ways of doing.

my apache dog hangs every day. only way i could stop him would be to take it off the limb above him, then he would not eat because he would be popping his chain at other dogs all day long. literally. i have the knot where his back feet touch the ground but alot of times he jumps and hangs on above it where he hangs. he has all his teeth and their very long. LOL

I think after seeing a picture of apache we are all in agreeance that whatever the hell you are doing.....WORKS! That dog is a monster.

I agree, apache is a monster!! I think it is a matter of opinion when it comes to swinging on a rope...there have been many dogs get hurt becasue of it...yet some that have never got hurt..you be the judge. on one of my springpoles the knot is tied low so the back legs can touch, but like apache..one of my gals grabs higher and then she starts to climb all the way up the rope...i'm not sure how she doe it. but it's crazy!! she uses her neck and grabs higher each time! anyways, heres a pic of a female and her pup on a springpole w/an old basketball tied to it...they just play.

    rocksteady I'll drink to that..

One word of caution, you might want to take off that choke collar when your dogs are playing..even if you are supervising. If it gets caught on something, it could strangle them. And even if you rushed to save them, it only takes a second to damage a windpipe.. Not to mention that pup could get tangled in it ..

Yeah i usually do take it off because of that. when i took the pic, it was only the pup playing and i was holding the female. then i let her go so i could get a pic of the two. i just forgot..
