Since we're sharing pics, I'd like to show one off of my old dog Tiger pulling at an APA show we went to recently. He didn't win anything, as he's too old to hang with the young dogs anymore but he still loves to pull, so we will let him as long as he wants to. Here's the old cooter doing one of the things he loves:

We've got 2 young sons of his on the ground now, we hope they'll love pulling as much as he does! :)

Aw, how old is he? I have a friend with a great pull dog who thinks the damn dog needs to retire at 6 years for "being too old".

He's 8 years old. And even at the age of 8, he will literally drag you up the chute to get hooked up he loves pulling so much!

Tell your friend to go for it! We started Tiger pulling at the age of 6 & he took to it like a duck to water. It's one of his most favorite things to do! ;)

Yeah, his muzzle & paws are turning white. He's also a bit on the chunky side, but that's we figured he's getting into his senior years so we spoil him a bit more than he should be. lol.

Thanks luge. You should see the looks on some people's faces when they see me getting him out of his crate. It's almost like "OMG, she's gonna pull THAT old thing??" Then he gets up there & pulls his socks off (as best he can now). I have even heard comments that they "didn't think a dog that old could pull like that." lol. Not that he's the greatest puller or anything, I'm not trying to say that at all. But he still pulls 1500 plus. Not too shabby for being 8 years old & right OTC.

Grandpa Tiger. I think we'll start calling him that. :D

Zoe: For most dogs he would be at middle age, edging into senior age. But he is heavily inbred & seems to be aging rapidly physically despite being well kept. I have never seen a dog at eight who has an almost full white muzzle & white paws. But he still has the mind & drive of a young dog! :)

All about Pits: Yep, the old cooter is still going strong! :)

I thought it was normal to have alot of white on the muzzle and paws at that age, my boy is eight and his muzzle is almost all white along with his paws but he still acts like he is a puppy. I wish I could let him pull but he injured his leg and he tries to play it off but I dont want to risk it anymore and as long as your dog still wants to do it I say let him as long as he is not injured. :D

That's awesome! :) I know just what you mean. I've got two eleven year olds that are still just rarin' to go mentally. I keep trying to ''retire'' them, but they get too damn annoying and wind up suckering me in to letting them do things they probably shouldn't as they are a bit stiff afterwards. Stiff but happy. lol

Yeah, he's the same way. Once the weight gets up there a bit I have to massage his leg muscles for him. We let him dictate how long he wants to pull since we're just doing it just for fun now. So once he slows down we'll pull him out. But he's so sad when we do it. He looks like he's about to cry when we take the harness off & put him in his crate! lol.
