Yeah, the argument doesn't hold much weight. There would be no point in breeding programs if the theory nuture were true. You could pick up a random dog of any background and it will be wonderful in any task you like. Brittnay spaniels can be a game dogs that love combat, get you an Irish setter that will act on intrusion of space for guard work, and an english bulldog to go in the field and work as a pointer lol

  2. Knowing that Staffordshire is renowned for its coal and iron deposits it is not hard to see these dogs helping in pulling carts in the mines. The breed loves it. Put that pit in your pipe and smoke it.

Yes Staffordshire is renowned for it's minning. I have been born and bred in Staffordshire into a minning family, but to my knowledge dogs have never pulled carts in the pits just ponys.
But saying that i totally agree with the rest of your statement.
I rescued a pit at 6 weeks old from the type of people that are putting up the arguement against you. He his now 3 years old, in the time i have had him he as gotten into 3 quarrells. But upto yet as never bit 1 of them just shown them who is the dominant one.

He is the most loving and loyal dog i have ever owned. :dogkiss:

What exactly do you mean by the type of people you are argueing with? Just exactly what type of people are we? I can promise you one thing we are all very different people. The one and maybe the only thing that we truely have in common is knowlege which is strongly lacking by you and this other yayhoo. You know how many quarrels my dogs have had.......none. Why? Because I keep them out of the situations where quarrels come about. There's only one breed worthy of putting a tooth in my dog. I get no glory or pride in an accidental fight with some cur mutt. It doesn't make my head swell if my dog can whip a shepard. I'd feel sorry for it. Like Zoe said, it's people like YOU who are irresponsible and have these accidental quarrels in public who give this breed a bad rep. People see accidents in public. And if your dog isn't DA and doesn't pursue a quarrel on it's own, it's cold or cur. Neither are desireable and I wouldn't feed it.

Is that the study on transgenerational epigenetics? I can't find the specific article if that's what you are talking about, but this mentions it..

amusing pitbullsmudge, that all you have to reflect on is your countless years of experience you have with your rescue dog. maybee you and ken can come and show me how to train my dog, you are both quite obviously the greates trainers the universe has ever seen, between all the pitbulls you have both had over the years.

let me tell you the "type" of person i am. i am the type of person who once learned the truth about the breed and wasnt clouded by cesar milan wanna bes, i learned to appreciate and respect the nature of these wonderfull dogs. the difference between myself you and ken is the fact that with my current house dog, i have NEVER once had an incident with my dog under my control NEVER. you guys can spout off how "game" you may think your petbulls are but at the end of the day i could put a million dollars on it neither have you have either been in the vicinity of a true gamedog, nor have you ever been in the unfortunate situation where you have to seperate two of them from a fight. im thinking you would probably shit in your pants with fright when you saw the real intencity of it all, and one of us would have to come and break the dogs off for you while you cried.

we are the "type" of people who NEVER have our dogs in the situation both of you have openly admitted happens with your own, hell ken has even estimated he may have upto forty a year?

the reality is it is you who is the smudge on the pitbull.

They make laws b/c of folks like you. Allowing your dog to get into trouble or setting him up to fail and telling ppl that this ok...It's not!Nothing even close to being a responsible pet owner.

pitbull smudge, if you are from staffordshire you would know the history of these dogs in the black country, and the reasons why they were bred. you say you have a rescued pit bull, i take it that you are now longer in staffordshire? can you qualify your statement " i rescued a pit at 6 wks old from the type of people that are putting up the arguement against you"...??

  9. Notice i said quarrells not fights. Did i say in public? No i never said experienced with pits. And for you guys who think game is the only attribute to the breed or think dog fighting is a sport just shows how sad you really are. Would love to see how game you are in the the field. It's great being a hard man when your not getting hurt..

  12. Just because i originated from staffordshire doesn't mean a thing. Thats the beauti of transport nowadays.

  13. Pitbull Smudge - like I said before if we are so wrong about what is being said here - why do the most prevalent pit bull rescues also say the exact same thing? If you are stereotyping all here as a dog fighter due to a viewpoint, you need to realize that then the rescue that you would consider the opposite of a dog fighter says the same exact things being said here. This is not some biased view point, there are common sense approaches to responsible ownership of this breed - approaches that span all circles of "pit bull" fanciers, be it game dog fanciers, pit bull rescuers, Anti-BSL Advocates, etc...

  14. irresponsible ownership! Why because i dont support dog fighting? Or my dog is well maintained, well fed, and happy. If thats irresponsible ownership! glad i am...

  15. I am not stereotyping all people on here the same. Everyone is entitled to their own point of view. But it seems on here if someone doesn't support gameness in a dog as there main attribute, they get slatted like Ken did.
All i ask it doesn't matter what stance you take, All should be given the same respect.

  16. Irresponsible ownership because you are agreeing with Ken who is here admitting he engages in practices in public which can and often does lead to the banning of this breed in towns.

Here in my world what you do and how you do it is not ok. What Ken does is not ok in the united states. Tieing your dog outside alone while you stroll into a coffee shop will get your dog killed in the united states. Public ommisions that you let your dog exzert his dominance over another animal will get your dog killed in the united states.

Again they make laws for folks like you.

While you think you have a clear grasp on how the world views your animals, you are sadley misguided and misinformed by what you percieve of public perception. You might be ok with how you do things but how you do things affects us all where ever you may live.

While it is easy for you to throw the dog fighting card out...so what, dogfighting is illegal. An hope that you won't find anyone that gives you a true education on it. This breed the APBT is not meant for someone like you.

You want to get to the root of the problem for this breed, you need to look at the every day pet owner and see what role they play in the politics that this breed faces. Are they ressponsible or are they irresponsible? Dogfighting or dogfighters will not be the demise of this breed. What will be the demise are those who claim to want to save them from this fate. Get a clue and get real!

Ken is familar with Canadian law. Ken has been a patron of this board for along time.

And on another note. The laws here do not distingqiush between APBT and staffordshires.
