The dogs main attribute is not a matter of an opinion. You can simply email some of the men who have made the breed what it is, some of the men who have been in the dogs 50 years and their father another 50 years before them. Ask them what the dogs main attribute is and what it has been bred for, it surely isnt to be your house pet. Its gameness first. Ask the men of this breed what will get a dog removed from their breeding program... Lack of game! A dog will not get removed from a program for lacking the attributes to be your yellow lab in a pitbull costume. You guys can believe whatever you want to, but don't bring this B.S to a site full of game doggers and not expect anything in return. Read the what is written in the upper left hand corner of this browser... GAME DOG . com Preserving the breed

Weird, you gotta wonder why some guys would want to be on a site like this after expressing those kind of views.

I got more respect for a dogfighter who matches his dogs into worthy opponents of the same quality and weight than some idiot who allows their dogs to get into quarrels with neighborhood mutts. At least it's fair. I bet it makes your head swell when you're dog bullies around those other poor dogs who weren't bred to be fighters. It's like watching your 13 yo son pick on a second grader. I call this a hypocrite. It's sad when the owner is more of a cut than the dog. People who don't understand gameness should own game dogs. Luckily you don't. But there will be a pitbull smudge in your underwear the first time you run into a reall bulldog with that rescur dog of yours.

No dude, irresponsible because you take your dog out in places and allow it to get in quarrels. A responsible owner is blind to the facts. If a pit bull type dog gets into a quarrel of any kind it's his fault regaurdless of what really happened. And that is more ammo for BSL. Responsible owners keep their dogs out of these situations. People like you who don't understand this and don't want to except the nature of these dogs shouldn't own them so that responsible owners won't have to worry about them being taken away.

Be Glad the original post was stolen by the electric gods.

Love the way that you congratulate each other's reasoning. If it weren't for your congratulating each other then you probalbly wouldn't receive much adulation.

Nice to note that you are still trying to slag me and twist my words into your mindset's simple idea of black and white. In your world there is no grey.

If you are interested in seeing what Zeus looks like then go into the Gallery.

You are quite right. Tying your dog up while you go to a store is out of the question because your dogs would be snapping and attacking anything and everything, giving the police ample reason to plug the violent pit. You couldn't bring a dog up, like I brought mine up, to live free and be happy. You couldn't tie your dog up in front of a store, let alone next to another dog, to get something done because all the dogs know and understand is violence.

Your revisionism of what I said is worthy of a movie.

I've only known one Akita. When I met the dog it was six years old and I was helping its owner, a recent acquaintance, move into a new home. By the time the moving was done and the beer was drunk it was time to sleep. Rather than attempt to put the beds together we chose the nearest flat surface which was the floor. Driving was out of the question.

When I lay down the Akita came over and lay next to me where it spent the night.

In the morning my friend said that he had never seen his dog lay down beside anyone like he had done with me. That dog sense cemented our relationship. It was a sweet dog. It was a sweet master. You could see where the animal's disposition came from. The owner, like the Akita, was not the type that you invited out to the parking lot to settle differences.

Dogs are influenced by their owners.:dogkiss:

Ken you and I have had many discussions on this board. Ken you are off base with your statements.
Now Ken you don't know what I have. As a matter of fact I do currently own a dog that is bred to standard that has never met a stranger and will tolerate other animals in my presence. For you to suggest that we as a group, or I alone have nothing but frothing unmanaged beasts is ridiculous! You see in the USA we can not afford to be careless as you are and for that have that mind set here in the USA. More often than not those are the folks that one will read about in the paper. An always it is they never dreamed that thier pet would behave like that, never thunk that they would be a accident waiting to happen.

Don't be bitchy when folks get on you, cause you are offering up bad advice.

Live free and happy huh? Nevermind its too easy. :p Kensloft, you are at the least ignorant of the breed you profess to love and at most dangerous to the newbies. You are discrediting hundreds of years of breeding with your statements. Are you saying that dogs don't have particular instincts for which they were bred, and that if left to their own devices, (like being left outside a store while you are inside with no control over said dog) that they won't answer those instincts... well answer me this dear Ken why did my little six month old female bulldog just chase a rabbit into the woods. (she ain't catch it though, she was too far away when she noticed it plus she's still young.) is it because I TRAINED her to chase rabbits or is it a terriers' instinct to chase and kill small prey. (not counting the bulldog's instinct to fight right now just dealing with the terrier part excuse me boys) I'm sure you have an answer that fits into your bubble gum pink grass and clouds made of cotton candy fantasy world. And it'll be ALL MY fault and have nothing to do with genetics. Is it because I failed to train her Kenny? I'm just glad you're not breeding.

    I'm rude? I don't think so.

What is rude is the pro-vicious game dogs troupe not recognizing the animal as an animal with its own canine sentience. I watched an episode of Dr. Phil the other day because it was on game dogs.

In film footage of a fight there was a dog that, when attacked, yelped in pain upon being bitten by a dog that was in the pit with it. The excuse that was proffered by the representative for game dogs was that it was young and it was its first fight. The ideal was that the more it fought then the less that it would yelp in future fights. Nobody bought this rationale except fo the person representing dog fighting.

The biggest abuse is not seeing them as animals with feelings. The mindless fighting machine that gamers propose as being what the breed is all about is disgusting at best. Your dogs don't know anything other than violence. That is why they are kept penned up or chained in the backyard.

These are happy, loyal dogs that will do anything for their masters. What their masters ask them to do is what makes the dog what it is. If fighting is the only thing that gets it attention and love then that is what it will do! This violence is not bred into the dog. It is inculcated into thier behaviour after birth. You cull the breed to get the type of dog that you think that you want. If your breed theory is right then you shouldn't have to do that?

As to dogs chasing wild animals I've had my share of it but it wasn't rabbits that he was chasing, it was skunks. He/we paid for that but, thankfully, tomato juice or paste gets rid of the odour. Dogs are animals. What do you expect? If they are off-leash and see some animal they will investigate. Instincts can be altered. It took him three encounters with skunks to alter that chasing of skunks instinct. The first encounter taught him that it was not nice. The second encounter was while walking down the street at night and he lunged at something in the bushes which turned out to be a skunk. His third encounter was him recognizing the animal and not even thinking about pursuit. From that point on when he would see a skunk he would, instinctively, not give chase.

There is no agree to disagree. Fighting dogs is a criminal offence. Making dogs fight is animal abuse.
