Pit bull x Akita mix?

  1. As a Bulldog owner I care. Which is why I replied. These types of mixes do have an affect on the APBT's reputation with the general public. Mixing a Bulldog with ANY guarding breed is asking for trouble. When a dog like that bites someone it will be labeled at best a Pit Bull mix. Just more unnecessary, negative, sensational press. Isn't there a mutt forum where this would be more appropriate?

i dont think any of those dogs will be confused for APBTs, and like i said, if they end up in resposible homes

  3. Are you serious?!? It happens all the time. The full Akita would not, but most people do not know what an APBT is let alone are able to distinguish one from a mix!

  4. I kinda have to agree with littlegamer to a point. If the owner says the dog is an APBT/Akita mix and the dog happens to attack or do an Akita's job or even just get too excited, the media and pro-BSLers will latch on to the "pit bull" part of that mix. We've all seen it happen. Hopefully the owners in this thread are as responsible as we hope they are.

dont get me wrong, i wasnt saying i think its a good idea, i know how the gp looks at these dogs and the crosses. and personally i wouldnt even feed one, but to each there own. accidents do happen, and as was mentioned several times, if they were in responsible homes there shouldnt be a problem.

  6. ^^^Agreed.

ive been around several APBT crosses that were done on purpose (hunting dogs and protection dogs) and they ended up being exactly what we were looking for. apbt x greyhounds for coyote hunting and apbt x various mastiff breeds to guard the farm.
but i will say that the apbt/akita dogs in this thread are fugly LOL

What do you want to happen, that every lil boy and girl's dog that is an APBT/MUTT get taken and put to sleep. If you don't like it leave it alone and don't worry about it. There are always going to be idiots out the making poor breedings and produced mutt, you nor nobody can stop it.

As I said before many would say the same thing about the APBT. You sound just as ignorant as the people that hate on our breed. You don't like it move on, guess you could say they are like cars, there and good in bad in every breed. An American pit Bull Terrier has never attacked a child? I don't like Akitas but to say that is plain stupid man.
