TDK, I think we're all a little guilty of building up some idealistic world view in our minds and crucifying anyone who doesn't conform to standards we aren't even proven to hold ourselves to. Would I be any more nobel if I were in this persons shoes? Do I even understand their struggle, and the motives for their actions.

That said, If I'm purchasing dogs I will error on the side of numbers and common sense. I wouldn't buy a dog with a cull close in the pedigree unless I saw it shoot lazer beams out its nostrils on command. I do try and keep an open mind though.

That's gonna be anybody, 3two1. If I had two dogs for sale, 1 really strong, athletic, and high drive and a nice fun, energetic lovable type. I had a buyer who was active in weight pull events an another buyer who has a couple dogs but is really a novice... we'll it's your job to put the right dogs with the right people.

The person buying the dog is responsible for checking it. Nobody can sell me on a trait. However, I don't sell dogs and when/if I do at some point I wouldn't deal with people who need a salesman.

It is a buyer's beware market. There is money to be made. There are people who are willing to swindle another's hard earned money. People sell puppies off two solid dogs with two solid families and they do not work out. Every now and then a top of the world dog comes from families of lesser dogs.

All these statements are true. All these apply to the dogs.

Mr. Edwards put a lot of dogs in peoples hands to find out what was working. He bred based on their outcomes. He sold a lot of dogs. He always had dogs to sell. He went weeks and months without cashing his checks from work from doing the dogs. He covered a lot of bets on the dogs he bred but had been placed.

In NC there are tons of people who can say, "I got my first bulldog from JE". A lot of them came back for more, a lot of them moved on to the more popular or the higher percentages. If you came back and did repeat business, did right by his dogs, he would give/place dogs with you. When he trusted your opinion and your intentions you got his very best.

Add all this up, then factor is Stoney. Stoney was bred from performance dogs. By way of his breeding he should have performed, but he did not. The next logical step is that if all that good blood is there he should at last produce. He did not. After being bred to the nicest bitches, bitches that produced with other males, and there was nothing to show for it, Mr. Edwards made a phone call. That was that.

The family around Stoney has done tons in the dogs. Other strains of the Cotton's Bullet blood have made their impact. Stoney did not and in turn Jump Around was a pet. Two generations back to back with no performance check. Slippery slope indeed.

As I have said before 'to each his own'. If one wants to pursue their dreams via Stoney/Jump Around, then by all means, do as you see fit.

Best evaluation is from one whos been there and sometimes that differs. But this statement as well as Slims last post, sum up the stoney situation. Dont go away MAD, just go away...

a lot of crazy stuff has been said in the post but i will say i liked the way it ended but now lets get real if yall think that a dog the has going on 30,000 hits on online peds like jump and has been in more peoples peds around the nc,va, sc area has not made lots of hounds that made many dog lovers happy. You need to talk to more people . Now i am not saying that blood is the best ever but it has made his made its mark be it big or small in your eyes. Many many people do not reports wins i call them very smart and those type are around longer these days and time for it . so how can u keep a count of how good the blood is the answer is to really can't . Ms poland sold dogs with or with out papers for sure there are many none reported wins and loses but people who knew how to cross that blood knew how to use the mouth off that jump blood to add to that gas to make good bull dogs same if not more so with the stoney blood he is bred better.

but i think what the funniest thing about this post is that you keep saying dont go the poland way well correct me if i am wrong it is 2014 lol where are u going to get it if u had the $ to buy it! there is only poland her self and maybe 3 or 4 people MAYBE that could even sell u a puppy with jump around in the 4 gen even . and if i am telling a lie prove me wrong . and as far are stoney blood lord lol there was only one guy in the here and now who had the most of that blood and from the looks of it you guys banned him for taking up for his own blood go figure. So if we get back to talking real hound talk if you happen to run across any of that blood and will not up close anyway you surely will not find any stoney at all! just yall you have some real old school blood in your hound that no one else has and thats the TURTH in the here and now. and that worth somthing alone .

and u seem to have good info about Mr Edwards i am a fan that good but that story u tell 20 or so times on stoney may be true in fact i feel like it better be true lol i heard another way . from some one who talked to some one who did breedings with mr edwards this person is still here today. i was told that stoney was sold too some hots boys from up north that wanted him for he pedigree but he told the guys to just breed him he was too old to match the guys did not listen he lost they put busted up stoney in a old barn that night it snowed heavy that night and he died. now if thats true or not who knows . as far a grunt i heard he was a fine bulldog that showed his game on his last outing that shut some people that was there mouth about him when he had to mount a comeback .

What's up? Just talking about you the other day. Remember the Bo male? We were talking pressure. He delivered a kidney shot and the entire ass end was swollen up, both sides.

As DP would say, that is a dog you can ride up and down the road with.

Hope all is well with you and yours. S

If you can spring for some DNA testing, or some forensic insight, we can go to the spot where ol' Stoney lies. And it is on the southern side of the Mason-Dixon.

I do not knock what other people do. More power to each, and to each his own.

As far as Grunt showing anything game, that is a crock, up one side and down the other.

He was given away after #1. He made bad signs but proved to be one of the hardest biting dogs ever. After #2 he was sold to JL. He made bad signs in #2 but he bit so hard the other had nothing left. After being sold to JL he was a GrCh. in about two months. Go figure. Nothing about Grunt ever suggested he was a game dog. He had a mother who was game and a sister that was game and his bottom side was chock full of game dogs.

The cross was intended to make game, hard mouthed durable dogs. Minnie was a success, and Molly I know nothing about and Grunt got the hard mouth part, just not the game part.

At the end of the day the cross makes the dog and if you see Polands in the ped with a nice cross even more so with the Stoney blood and more gas and it clicks if the other hound goes mouth you and I know both what the outcome will be .
