After having the warmest December I can remember and dealing with two bitten dogs in less than a year I’d like to ask what is the best way to protect your dogs from snakes?

the vast majority of poisonous snakes in my area are copperhead and cotton mouths which are abundant. However there has been three reported rattle snake bites in 2021 on humans and many more on dogs. A friend of mine raises coon hounds and lost 3 dogs in the last 2 years, and my son ran over a large rattle snake in my pasture while mowing. My property is in the river bottoms so I know snakes are something I will live with, but any help before spring is much appreciated

I don't think there's much you can do.
Maybe some manual collection or some snake traps. Or dig some holes and drop a bucked in it and cover. Go around everyday and check them.
Lastly try to get and keep some antivenin on hand.

If you want to try a natural way: get some cinnamon oil and put around the area. Snakes do not like it. Or, you can try Ortho Snake B-Gon. You can get this on Amazon. It's safe around dogs.
