R.I.P. Maxine(Daisy Mae)

Elliott's Maxine (AKA Daisy to us) passed away tuesday afternoon after being inlvolve in a 3 way kennel accident With amber and jackson.She went quickly and dont think she felt very much .She turned 5 in october and just had her second litter sired by her father Ch kain(also died recently).All puppies were kept .She was my first female .Had her since she was 6 weeks old.She was nonstop since ive had her.I have 1 daughter from her first litter and 1 daughter/2 sons from her 2nd(last) litter. Shell be forever missed and ill be searching for her from now untill these dogs are gone. This is also to show everyone accidents DO happen .Check your hardware daily!!!

 

Sorry to hear that. I check mine at least twice daily. I feed twice check and clean. Then during work out I check too. Rainy days just when I feed. It is one thing that my grand fathers both instilled in me. Also my mentors. God be with them all. There are still times I wish they were a phone call or email away for a question I have. Ya after 30 some odd years I still have a question. I have allot of answers but still have questions that come up of my own I would like to know and have those trusted folks to ask. Praise be to God for them.

 

So this amber and jakson killed her as a team....? All 3 dogs get went out...or what? Sounds like a nightmare....

Yeh the other 2 were still going at it when i found her. Think two 30lb females and a 55lb male.Jackson and amber made it out a little banged up ,nothing real serious.theyre young (17-19 months) but maxine was 5 and and she was recooporating from the litter she just had .Its sucks so bad i cant even look at her pups right now.SHe was my friend and one of the last of her kind.Her dad died right before thanksgiving and her mom is 9.

 

Yes that is a tragedie....my heart goes out to you. I wish you luck with her pups. I think maxine puts some trust in you to take care for her pups....

 

I am so sorry to hear that. i have lost my one and only this past week too. I really feel for you. Wish there was more I could do to ease your pain. I am here for you if you need anything. I am terribly sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry to hear that! That is awful. But I'm glad that you did mention that accidents happen and that hardware should be checked daily. That is so true. Everyone needs to have a proper set up and check it daily at least-- we check ours twice a day sometimes more if we are already out there with them.
You can NEVER be too safe when it comes to making sure they stay where you put them.

I have been lurking on this board for a while, I've always tried to be objective about what's posted, and although I feel for your loss ( and I grieve for your dog) This whole "yard" mentality sickens me.

I am not some bleeding heart, tree hugging, save them all type of person, but GOD! How many times are we supposed to excuse "yard accidents".

How about only having a number of dogs you can keep in your home. How about respecting the dire situation these dogs are in now. How about NOT breeding.

Why is keeping numerous dogs chained outside acceptable?!?!?! This is not the 1800's, this is NOT a time when dog fighting is acceptable, and this is certainly not a time to keep exploiting these dogs and setting them up for failure.

One final thought.... the only way any of the dogs on this site are "game" is to do something totally illegal and immoral, rightfully so.

I understand if the mods ban me, as I'm disagreeing with the majority, I just really am disturbed by the attitude of alot of people here...it makes me very sad.

I would really love to hear some other opinions, maybe I'm totally off the mark. If I'm allowed to stay I'd love to hear someone from the other side.

1800 or 2000....1300 or 1900.Who cares? This dogs where ever the same because of her special genetic task. You have the right to say what you think and the majority on this site thinks like you but that doesnt tell that you are 100% right.

 

Hmm. First of all, I can see where you would be in an uproar, as you stated you are speaking from the 'other side'. Yard accidents happen. That's why it's an accident. Improper chain setups, worn out collars, broke links, etc.
The chain setups don't make the dogs aggressive, in a 'game' pitbull, it's in their nature.

Second, having 'a number of dogs you can handle in your home' would be even worse than having a well, proper chain setup of the same number of dogs. Experienced pitbull handlers know that you CANNOT leave a number of pitbulls alone all the time. This may work for you and your dogs, but that is not something I would risk. Not saying that every bulldog is a blood thirsty dog killer, but most game line bulldogs have that tendency.

On one note, your right, the only way to call a dog 'game' is to have it tested. Most of the dogs here are game bred, not 'game'. Alot of people on this board, as well as all many bulldog fanciers throughout the world, are trying to keep alive what the originals did for these dogs. 20-40 years ago, people bred these great champion dogs that many people are trying to preserve that same line that was created and keep that intention going. Sure it was meant to be for the box mostly, but it was also meant to be loyal. Also a game line dog doesn't have to be fighting to use it's abilities. If I were hunting and attacked by a wildcat or small bear, a game bred dog would go to the end for you.

Now, in the ever so changing world of bulldogs, we all know there's another 'side' of bulldogs that have that 'game' trait bred out of them for show purposes and to be able to be 'kept with a number of dogs in the house' without trouble. I've seen and owned both. Very different types of dogs(some; some show dogs still have it).

We all respect the situations our breed is going through. Your right bullshyt breeding does serve no purpose other than $$ and filling up shelters.
But then you have the serious, respectable breeders that are keeping the real pitbull alive to continue on for generations. That way my kid's kid don't wind up with mixed bred man eaters =)

Do you keep sheep and goats in your house? If not why raise them. How about cattle and chickens? I have been in houses that have numerous cats and dogs in them. That isn't sanitary. They are not humans. Nor should they be treated as such. That in itself robs that dog of its own nature. I love my dogs and do have some inside. But not all of my animals are comming in. Nor should they. My hounds belong out side. I don't know what world you live in but in mine a dog is still an animal and they do not need to live in a dag gum house that is silly. Nothing wrong with a pourch dog or a yard dog. If you want your pets inside all the time cooped up in there that is your own odd belief of right. But I will tell you things it sure the heck isn't natural. It is down right weird. God gave them fur for living outside. I am all for a indoor pet but it sould not spend more than just the night in the house. And forcing your strange belief that dogs belong in homes cohabitating with humans and not in a yard, barn or on the pourch is just plain creepy.

sorry to hear about your loss! my only question is if it was 3 dogs, did hardware fail on 2 different dogs at the same time? that seems kind of odd. how else could 3 get together at once? better make sure nobody's been messing around in your yard.
