Lost another old timer today. Mr Cecil Middleton. May he r.i.p.

Mr. Cecil Middleton passed away of cancer yesterday, July 12, 2018. Cecil was a retiree of the Sonoco Paper Mill and a member of SOTC. He was also a charter member of the pitbull fraternity. Cecil bred some of the best pitbulls on the east coast during the 1980's and '90's. He is best known for Middleton's Black Betty, one of the best producing females ever. She was the dam of Garner's Spike and Middleton's Face, two truly extraordinary pitbulls. Cecil was an extraordinary man in his own right. He was an athlete, having played football at USC, and was very intelligent with superior abilities to grasp and manage whatever endeavors captured his interests. Perhaps his best trait was his good character: he always met and exceeded his obligations to both people and his beloved dogs. I will miss Cecil Middleton. He was a man among men. Godspeed to you my friend.
Graveside services will be held Sat. July 14 at 10:00am at Magnolia Cemetery in Hartsville. Brown Pennington Atkins Funeral Home is in charge of the services. Please keep the family in your prayers.
