How much days off is needed for the dog in keep? what do you prefer?

It really depends on what type of keep you are doing if it is a real tough program or if you are starting off with a couple of miles a day... It really depends

it does depend how much work the dog is on but that is part of Conditioning a dog if you dont know when a dog needs rest you shouldn't be putting the dog through a keep.........now normally 1 rest day a week if you mess up and leave the dog on to much one day and the dog needs a rest let him rest..... you dont work a tired dog cause you'll need at least 2 days to rest him it'sbetter rest then rest twice as much at a later time
as Earl Tudor would say "there ain't nuttin better for a tired dog then rest"

I have tried one day rest in a week but, I think thats to little. So I want to try 3 days training 1 day off and if the dog needs more rest he will get a extra restday.

if the dog isn't clean of worms and what not he will always be tired......are you feeding him enough........or to much.........and maybe he just isn't game enough to make it through a keep lmao.......

I know plenty of people that work 3 days on rest 2 day...etc. etc.

For a summer show I agree with Bubba. But I would split the workouts early morning & late evening.

Before Jaha was limping I was waiting until 8 o'clock or later to work with him. It started getting so hot that working during the day was unrealistic.

The dog should be worked at the same time that he is to be shown

I agree, but in my opinion it is to easy to overwork a dog especially in the summer. So I split my workouts & I get more out of each one. Ex. Morning handwalking, or roadwork. Evening flirt/tug work, tredmill or swimming. I also feed morning & evening. This is just me, I'm by no means telling others what to do. But I'm happy with it.

I don't ever split the workouts in a day , IMO it's too hard on a dog to recover properly . As far as rest goes i never go more than 3 days straight work w/o rest . The dog tells me if he needs a 2nd rest day or not . The point of a keep is to get them stronger everyday . If they aren't there's a problem . A big mistake i made when i started working dogs was to put them on their regular space after work . All they did was continue working thus becoming stale and overworked .

I only split workouts during pre-keep. 1hr in the morming, 1hr in the evening, 4x a week.

I work them 2 days on - one day off, then 1 day on - 1 day off! Make sure they are well hydrated, don't forget the needed after work-out massage/rubdown and always check your dogs pads!

Have had some problems with the paws some time a go, so I check the paws daily. After workout I walk the dog for about 30/45 min as cooling down and when at home I give him a rubdown for about 10 min. How is the rubdown done efficiant? Now I do rubdown like massage with humans.

i'm no expert, what i do is just go along with the hair at not against it.

Massage with the hair and not against it! Start with the head and ears working down to the neck and body! Then the shoulders and front legs all the way down to the ankles and paws! Continue with the under belly and stifles!

Thanks for your replies. I was doing like you posted, but liked to know for sure if I was doing it right.
