Ringworm is not a worm. It is a fungus and there for needs an anti fungal medication.

Ringworm lesions looks the same in people as in dogs. It is a raised circular lesion. It looks like a circle on the dog's skin with raised edges. It looks like the hair has been removed in a circle or patch with a pale spot at the center. Common ringworm in dogs symptoms include crusty skin, scaling and some redness. Odd shapes usually mean that multiple lesions joined together.

To me from the picture it does not look like ringworm.

well i went ahead and put some tenactin on my dog a day ago. im pretty srue it isnt ringworm, but tenactin isnt expensive so why not. Im pretty sure in my case though it is only from the rubbing of the cable on my dogs skin. and it is healing already, so im pretty sure i dont have any ringworms on my dog. Thanks for the advise though you guys

LOL if it is ringworm you would be applying it for WEEKS. And you even have to apply it to the spot for a few weeks after the lesion is no longer visiable.

I have had ringworm a total of 3 times. I NEVER had it until I got into Vet Med. The first time I had it was about 9 years ago. I stopped applying the antifungal when I no longer saw the lesion. Well it came back.

If it was ringworm it would take more than a few days to clear up.

It did not look like ringworm to me. I am glad it is healing up for you.

I already said ringworm is a fungus. Let me ask you did you EVER get a diagnosis? Or did you do a culture yourself to verify.

You can get it by direct contact with another infected animal or person. It can be passed from dogs to cats. The fungal spores can live in the environment for a long time and can be found in carpets, bedding. Ringworm is most prevalent in hot, humid climates, However most cases of ringworm occur in the fall and winter

And yes it does take weeks to clear up. You must not have been dealing with Ringworm. With diagnosed cases that I have dealt with it took weeks of Lime Sulfur dips to get rid of. As well as oral weds.

With my diagosed case of it it took weeks to get rid of.

LMAO even the Tinactin website tells you to apply it for 4 weeks for ringworm.

    http://www.tinactin.com/ringworm.html

Continue treatment for four weeks, even if symptoms disappear, to ensure a complete cure

i know what your saying . but old guys aways doctored there dogs . we did'nt take them to the vet unless we could'nt fix the problem . we use things that the vet would ask me what i'm using and how does it work . ask 1 of the older vets and they will tell you . people that deal with our own dogs have all kinds of ways to heal them . alot of stuff they learn from old guys that healed there own animals . you don't have to think what's in a book just get to healing . and we did .

Hell I deal with my own dogs as much as I can as well. But I do have proper training. And I know when I can not handle a situation and take my dog into work. And I understand what you are saying. However I was just correcting the false information that you gave.

Many things can resemble ringworm. For example you thought this was ringworm. When infact it was not.

Veterinary Medicine has advanced greatly through the years. And while I understand that many have handled their own Vet care. However it does not always mean it was the correct way to do it.

Back in the day they thought the best way to treat Demodex was to pour burnt motor oil over dogs. Which yea can work. It can either kill the dog and well I guess you do not have to worry about the demodex then. LOL

Try Ambesol. I always use to use athletes spray, and wait until it scales over, than balm....works on just about anything.
