Thoughts and prayers to friends and family.

Mr. Mims may very well be the greatest breeder of game dogs of all time.

Here in NC if you got into the dogs in the 70's/80's/90's you more than likely got a dog from Mr. Mims. When so many others were ramping prices his pups were still $300. For that $300, you could just about guarantee the puppy would grow up and make his scratches. One of the highest percentages of game dogs per litter than more than likely anyone else.

He was always good to me and we had a number of 'hour long-plus' conversations and most of the time a dog never came into the discussion. Pulp wood, the fact few boot companies use American made rubber in their boot soles, the decline in value of the 'look a man in the eye and shaking his hand' approach to life and if young people actually knew what hard work was all about. We had conversations almost like I was as old as him.

We had similar back grounds. Our fathers were hard working, hard-ass men who raised and took care of their families who taught/showed/made their kids learn to work and appreciate its value. We both had mothers with who had as much Christian faith in their little pinky fingers as most have in their entire body. Our mothers raised us with strong Christian values. (and we agreed as we were coming along we probably required some extra praying).

He was a good man and did a lot of good things. The number of people he helped over the years is countless.

    RIP.
